Timing is everything.

Sumeera Robinson refuses to settle for less than she desires, even if what she craves is the sexy, smart, and charming Nicolas Jenkins-Moore. At her age, she wants marriage and a family, not the empty promises Nick offers. Yet, there is just something about the man that makes moving on nearly impossible.

As the new senior manager of Jenkins & Sons Construction, Nick’s five-year plan is on track with marriage and starting a family at the bottom of the list. Sumeera is as beautiful inside as she is on the outside, but not even she can entice him to abandon his carefully plotted road to success. That is until she walks away without looking back, leaving him yearning for her presence in his life.

Nick is determined to convince Sumeera that he wants the same things she wants. But will an unexpected development keep them from the life they desire? Or will fate bring them closer than they’ve ever been before?

Penmort Castle (Ghosts and Reincarnation #1) by Kristen Ashley

I have to say I chose this book for the Ghost factor. I was a bit disappointed that there was very little ghost until the very end. It is still a okay book if you are into romance though.  I wasn't really crazy about the lead characters at all actually all of the characters had flaws. Cash the leading man needed kicked in the nuts a time or 10 and Abby the leading lady needed a good dose of reality upside the head.  I just was not as enthralled with this book as most of the other reviews.

Abby has lost her whole family in the last 6 years. Both parents, Grandmother, and then her husband. She decides to leave America and start over in her Grandmother's house in  England.  She is in desperate need of money to save the house she loves, and ties her to her families memory.  A friend of hers tells her about becoming a paid escort for extra money. So she gives it a shot.

Cash is a rich international spy hunter. He is looking for revenge on his Uncle. To get the revenge he needs a professional escort to be his girlfriend for 1 month. Cash hires Abby. He has a long list of requirements Abby must agree to in order to get paid. Reluctantly Abby agrees. Cash is very dominating and has Abby bending over backwards to fill his commands, but she needs the money so goes with it.  Shortly after their arrangements begin Cash and Abby both start feeling more for each other then Boss and employee, but neither are willing to admit it to themselves or each other.

The Ghost haunts Penmort Castle. This is Cash's family home and should rightfully be his but his Uncle and family are living their. Cash has recently bought all of his Uncle's debt which includes the Castle but has not told his Uncle. The Ghost is said to kill the true love of each of the men's as her revenge of her death. Abby does not believe she is the true love so figures she is safe. Cash does not believe in ghosts. When Abby gets hurt they both try to explain it away.

Abby ends up calling her Friend, her neighbor, and a few other people in to help send the ghost on and to save her life.

Excerpt

Zoe shivered as the wind picked up and swirled the fallen leaves around her feet. The tree branches above her head had started to sway in the wind and brushed against her head scarf. She looked around the grounds, which were cast in shadows. It was a moonless night and the smell of rain hung in the air adding to her growing annoyance. They were standing just outside their backdoor. Eva had one hand resting on the panel, and Zoe put her arms around her waist and rested her head against her back.
“It’s getting cold. Can we hurry up?”
Zoe heard Eva’s quiet chuckle as she went about unlocking the door. “You have the patience of a flea, and just so you know, the flea is probably deeply offended,” Eva whispered making both of them laugh. A soft click was all that was heard when Eva slid the bolt as quietly as she could make it. “All done.”
“What was that?”
“That was the bolt, love. I muffled the noise.”
It still amazed Zoe every time she saw Eva use one of her gifts.
Eva slowly pushed the door open only to hear a loud scraping noise. She turned around and stared wide eyed at Zoe.
“What is a chair doing there?”
Zoe sighed. “My fault. I told Berta to put a chair there.”
“You do know that if someone wanted to break in, they can go through those large windows?”
“It made sense at the time,” Zoe whispered as they entered the kitchen.
“I love you dearly but sometimes you just do the funniest things.”
“I know.” Zoe giggled. She pulled Eva’s shirt and Eva stopped and turned around. “Can you feel them?”
“Yes. Two humans.”
“At least they’re not demons, because that would require more than my gun.”
“I’m pretty sure even the demons fear you.”
“Ha ha, smarty pants. Let’s go scare the idiots inside. They are bound to have heard the chair.”
“Maybe they didn’t.”
A gentle thump-thump above their heads indicated whoever was up there was on the move. “Okay, let’s go.” Zoe took the safety lock off her gun. She was about to move forward when she felt Eva’s arms around her. They held each other for a moment and then Eva kissed her on the head. Without another word, Zoe edged forward with Eva behind her. Eva’s height was enough to warn Zoe if anything was coming and she had a clear line of sight to whatever was coming towards them.
Zoe came to the entrance of the living room and stopped. She looked up into the darkened ceiling. The intruders were up there and they were slowly heading their way.

BOOK TOUR: India by Debra Schoenberger

Book Description:

I have always been fascinated by the sheer beauty and diversity in Indian culture. "Sensory overload in a glance" is an apt description of a country that is always in movement. To be able to stand still in the middle of all that movement allows me to really "see" her people and absorb the flow of life from birth to death.

From learning how to make yellow ink from cow urine to watching funeral pyres burn in Varanasi, I realized that I would have to spend a lifetime here to grasp the immense value of her art, stunning architecture, fascinating food and love of all that is beautiful.

My Review:

As With Debra Schoenberger's other photography books I was left breathless with the beauty she shows in her photos. This book focuses on the Country of India not just one city.

There are so many awesome photos in this book I cannot pick just 1 that would be my favorite. The photos show not only the beauty of India but the everyday, like people going about their daily lives, business, shopping, and more. The sad, some of the run down areas, some areas look to literally be falling down around the people. Some scary like the electrical wires. Wow I would be terrified to walk under that wire mess much less plug something into the electricity. Then there are the cute, I loved the one of a dog laying under a 3 wheeled motorcycle, it really wasn't anything special that caught my eye, I really can't explain it,  it just was awesome to me. There are cows just in the streets, lot of dogs and cats. Some wildlife and so much more. I loved all of the color in the photo's one simply has a lady holding a umbrella in front of her in front of an alley, the picture was taken up the alley from her and it was just great.

I love Debra's photography books. She has a wonderful eye for taking photos that really catch the readers eye as well as the imagination. Her books make great coffee table books. They are to amazing for a book shelf.

My Grand Kids also looked through this book with me and they are 2 and 4. They loved the pictures as much as I did. After we finished the book, my 4 year old Grand Daughter looked through the book again on her own. he spotted new and different things in some of the pictures then she did the first time around. This to me makes the book even more special.

Interview with Debra Schoenberger

What were some of the different artisans you visited?

Block Printing

While we were in Jaipur, I wanted to visit some block printers, having briefly seen a demonstration several years ago.  I went to a small studio where a long piece of fabric was laying on a long table.  Different blocks are used for different colours.  First of all, the printer stamps the background.  Then up to 4 or 5 more blocks will be used to fill in a simple pattern.  More complicated patterns can require dozens of different blocks. Recipes for traditional plant-based dyes are developed within each family and kept alive from generation to generation.

Silk weaving

I walked through the backstreets of the Muslim quarter in Varanasi to visit a silk weaver. Varanasi silk weavers have been operating here for hundreds of years and Varanasi is famous for the quality of its silk.

I could feel the vibration and hear the hum of the machines the deeper I walked into the neighbourhood.  As I walked down the dark alleys, I would glimpse into open doorways to glimpse the silk weavers at work.  Curious children followed at a distance.  The noise in the workshops was deafening so I just stood and watched the men work. A weaver who operates a handloom can produce one metre of fabric a day.  A machine loom can produce 10 metres a day.  Many skilled handloom weavers are now working with machines as they can earn more money.  Weavers are mostly all men and the skills is passed down from father to son.

Blurb Blitz: Elektra Chaos by Deanna Roy

Elektra Chaos
by Deanna Roy

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Middle Grade
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Elektra never wanted to be the good guy.

She’s a troublemaker and a clever Loki magic thief. Nobody gets in her way. All she has to do is zap people with her electric-magnetic power, and they forget where they are or what they are doing.

But a few days ago in the desert, a magnetic sandstorm did more than blow everyone backward. It switched the polarity of the magic world. The good guys turned bad. And the bad guys like Elektra, well, now their magic only works if they are doing good in the world.

Now the Vor are out to steal more power, making the thieves look like chumps. Elektra will have to fight every bad guy code she’s ever stood for to take down the good guys and save the day.

Elektra Chaos is the final book in the Magic Mayhem trilogy.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
Silver scuffed her foot against the floor. “Coach, I think you fail to understand the situation. We’re not able to use our powers for tricks. It just doesn’t happen.”
Coach Snicker crossed her arms in front of the Trinity Academy logo on her sweats. “I’m hearing a lot of excuses. We are Loki. We are clever. We are driven. We don’t give in just because some rock in the desert got pushed around.”
Elektra exhaled slowly, trying to control her rage. Her pink feather was shifting, tickling her cheek. She pushed it back, but it stubbornly moved forward again. The metal coil that attached it to her hair was getting attracted to something, but what?
She looked around, and she saw him.
Marcus. He was above her, looking over a rail. He was in fifth grade, but looked much younger due to his size. His hair was pale and stood straight up, like he was shocked. He’d changed out of his Trinity uniform and wore normal shorts and a blue T-shirt.
They’d spent hours together in the desert, stuck on a trailer with a giant magnetized rock. And helped each other. Actually joined forces, like the Avengers, or she guessed, more like Batman teaming up with the Joker.
He watched her and the pink feather aimed for him as if he was the center of gravity. She tucked the bit of fluff behind her ear and turned away. They couldn’t help each other now. The lines were drawn. She was on one side, and he was way on the other.
