Book Blast for Collared by the Cowboy by Susan Arden

Collared by the Cowboy
by Susan Arden

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Erotic Romance (Western)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Bound and determined to break free of a small town, Mia isn't about to let a little thing like a bondage club or a cocky cowboy stand in her way. Not when it means unearthing the truth. Undercover, she enters an elite world defined by sex, subs, and power. What can happen? It's just for a night...

Out of necessity, Brandon guards his privacy. Tall, dark, and frowning--he gives Mia a run for her money when she almost blows her cover. He's one hot piece with a very dominating streak. Think hair pulling, panty-dropping! He's gorgeous, built, and makes her want things. Dirty, dark, and not part of Mia's plan.

Brandon is down for the chase, and catches the dark-eyed beauty in a lie. The little researcher needs to be taught a lesson. Pretty with curves galore, yet it's her smart-mouth that forces his hand. If Mia wants to learn about his club, he'll teach her every dirty detail of what it means to surrender. To him.

Their raw chemistry is undeniable. Mia is more than a tantalizing and temporary diversion. She becomes the woman he can't let go.

As Brandon and Mia explore falling in love, they reveal their darkest secrets. From the shadows, a stalker with a taste for revenge is just waiting for an opportunity to strike.

Excerpt Two:

No Games

What is this place?” Mia asked. “One of the private rooms?”

You might say that.” Brandon turned the pad to her. “There. That should cover it.”

Grabbing hold of the pad, she knitted her brows as she read. Agreement Contract. Rule #1: What Brandon McLemore deems appropriate stands and Mia Santero will follow. There were two signature lines below it. She snapped her gaze to Brandon’s and practically screeched, “Wait. Are you nuts?”

Not in the least,” he drawled, gifting her with customary penetrating stare. “That rule covers everything that will go on between us.”

Mia felt the blood thud in her temples. Unable to hold her tongue, she scoffed, “That rule isn’t a rule. It’s a diktat! How am I supposed to abide by a command that gives you complete freedom and authority to do as you see fit? You’ll have all the power. Over me.”

Little researcher, you asked if I’m good,” Brandon began, incrementally closing the distance between them. The power he exuded stole the thoughts right from her brain. His gaze dipped to her mouth, then rebounded to her eyes. “Darlin’, I’m not good. I’m a machine. I like it rough, raw, and I don’t hold back. I’ll make it my job to know what you want, but more importantly, what you need. There’s a huge difference, and that’s what distinguishes who commands and who pretends. I don’t pretend.”

But…” She swallowed, believing every word he’d said. “You’d have to pretend with me.”

He reached out and cupped her chin in his warm hand. “No, I won’t. That’s not what you need for this project or otherwise.”

Then what will you do?” Her body hummed from the heat in his eyes. “I need to be certain I know what to expect.”

That’s fair,” he murmured. “We can both get what we want. You want privacy and so do I. Out there. But when we’re alone, there won’t be any games between us.”

Virtual Name Before the Masses Tour for Stealing Magic by Alex C Vick

Stealing Magic
by Alex C Vick

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:   Middle Grade Fantasy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Shannon thought there was no such thing as real magic. Until that day. The day that changed everything.

Put yourself in her shoes. Would you open your eyes, if you were the one that heard them? Two magic-takers from another world, arguing about whether they can collect what they came for before you wake up. It sounds like a crazy dream, or a practical joke.

But what if the air around you started to vibrate with an invisible force field? What if, all at once, it felt scary, yet familiar too? You would have no way of knowing that this discovery would set you on a path no-one from our world has taken for centuries. Towards a deadly enemy, and a fight you will almost certainly lose.

All you know is that your heart is beating so fast you're worried they will hear it, and your brain is starting to buzz as the force field reaches it. Would you open your eyes?

Join Jax and Shannon as they live through the most exciting and terrifying ten days of their lives!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
“Why do you-?” started Shannon, at the same time that Jax said
“How did you-?”
They both laughed nervously.
“You go first,” said Jax. “I’ve got a feeling I need to answer a few of your questions first before you can be any help answering mine.”
“OK,” replied Shannon. “Why do you travel to my world and steal its magic?” she began.
“Steal?” replied Jax, shocked. “Stealing magic is not what we do. We harvest it.”
“You steal it,” retorted Shannon. “If it’s not stealing, why do you only do it in secret? And why does no-one on my world seem to know that it’s happening?”
“Exactly!” said Jax. “If you don’t know it’s happening, and you don’t even know the magic is there in the first place, and you don’t miss it when it’s gone, how can it be stealing?
Besides, it has always been this way. For hundreds of years magic-takers have travelled from Androva to Terra to harvest its magic.”
“You still haven’t answered my question anyway,” said Shannon, crossing her arms. “Why do you do it?”
Jax shifted in his seat, and looked out of the window.
“I don’t exactly know why,” he mumbled.
“What?” said Shannon.
“I don’t know why!” repeated Jax, more loudly. His cheeks went a little red, and he scuffed his shoe along the floor.
“I am not permitted to know until I am of age. I only know that it has something to do with a very old Treaty, and that it’s a really bad thing if Androva doesn’t harvest its full magic Quota each month.”
Interview with Alex C Vick
1. What is your favorite part of this book and why?
It’s always so difficult to choose a favorite part! I write because I love it, which means that I deliberately choose stories and settings that appeal to me. But in order to avoid spoilers, I’ll pick a scene near the beginning of the book, at the end of the third chapter. It’s the moment when Jax opens the portal again to meet Shannon properly. Everything else that happens to them becomes possible because of that one moment. She realizes that she’s not imagining this, and more than that, she dares to find out more.
It’s uncharted territory for both of them. Jax isn’t used to being at a disadvantage, and Shannon isn’t used to taking risks. And of course, the fact that she’s just become a magician is a pretty big life change as well!
2. If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?
My thirteen-year-old self would jump at the chance to spend the day with Shannon, so that I could see Androva as if I were a brand new underage magician. I’ve obviously written about it, and I have quite a vivid picture inside my head, but actually stepping through a portal and attending the Seminary of Magic would be brilliant.
Highlights would be projecting the Solo Transference spell, seeing a Sygnus close up, meeting Jax and Darius, and hopefully playing Time Trial!
3. If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
Tolkein’s Lord of the Rings. The characters, their story, and the world they inhabit have captured the imaginations of millions. There are so many layers and details, and every reader discovers something different. Even if you take away all the high fantasy elements, the underlying battle between good and evil is incredibly compelling. His writing has influenced so much of what has been created in the fantasy genre since then. Not just in books, but in gaming and films too.
And Tolkein was so humble about his masterpiece. This is from a letter he wrote in 1955, after the trilogy was first published. “Nothing has astonished me more (and I think my publishers) than the welcome given to The Lord of the Rings.”
4. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
From my imagination, at least as far as I am aware! Sometimes the characters turn up in my head and I feel like I know them already. Other times I discover them as I’m writing. In Stealing Magic, for example, I knew exactly what Jax and Shannon were going to be like as soon as I thought of them. Darius, however, was more of a surprise. But the great thing about writing a series is that I can revisit characters when I’m curious to know a bit more about them!
However, if someone in my real life makes a memorable comment, be it funny or thought-provoking, I do occasionally give that comment to one of my characters.
5. What made you want to become a writer?
I wanted to become a writer because I love reading so much. The thought of being there at the moment when the page was still blank, choosing the words that might, if I were lucky, create a different world for other readers to discover… I thought that would be amazing. And it is. Of course, it’s also hard work and more than a little scary, but nothing worth having is ever easy! Those moments of amazement continue to make it all worthwhile, and I love writing so much.
Thank you very much to Teresa for featuring my book, and also for the interesting questions. I really enjoyed the interview!
NBtM: Living in the Shallows by Tani Hanes
Living in the Shallows
by Tani Hanes
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

GENRE:   New Adult/Romance

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
BLURB:
Aileen is a bilingual music student with a chronic case of poverty. She gets a dream job as an interpreter for a boy band making a movie in Japan. Having spent her life as a sheltered, shy only child in the rarefied world of classical piano, she is utterly unprepared for this new world, these boys and their frank physicality and openness. Theo, especially, the known playboy and unrepentant flirt of the group, makes her uncomfortable in a way she's never felt before, and ultimately Aileen, or Tinker Bell, as she's known to the boys, has to decide if she's ready to leave the sidelines and become a participant in her own life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt Two:

Minutes, hours, or months later, Teddy was gently shaking me awake. "Foster? Foster. We have to stop for food. We're hours away from the hotel because of the traffic, and everyone's starving. Do you need any food? Will you be okay if I leave for a sec to get something to eat, or do you want me to stay with you?"

I shifted and felt his leg under my head and his hand warm on my hair. I swam up to the light and tried to focus on his words. "No."

"No, you don't need anything, or no, you don't want me to go?"

"No, you don't need to go. Sandwiches for you guys in my bag. From the kitchen this morning. Ten of them. All kinds. In the seat behind Geth." I stopped trying to chin myself on the bottom rung of consciousness and let go.

Later. Warm breath in my ear. The bus was humming along smoothly, and that was what had awakened me. We were actually moving. I shifted a little, and felt the familiar firmness behind me, the arm around my waist, gathering me in, pulling me all the way to him. The walls of privacy I tried to put up when awake seemed to desert and betray  me in sleep, as my legs were tucked intimately around his; we were fitted together as tightly as two spoons in a drawer, and I had his arm clasped firmly in my hand.

My stirring had roused him a little, and he shifted his head against mine, pulled me even closer against him, if that was possible, touched his lips to my ear. "Shh, darling, it's okay, it's only me," he whispered softly in his sleep, exhaling warm air in a puff. I drifted back to sleep, pondering what he could possibly have said that I'd misheard as "darling."

Interview with Tani Hanes
1. What is your favorite part of this book and why?
I like the scene by the little bridge, by the koi pond. With the fireflies. And the shooting stars. Could it be any more romantic? It was the first, the very first romantic scene I ever wrote. It’s been rewritten several times, better, I hope, but wow, was it fun. I’ve obviously gone to much more mature places with these two since then, but that was the beginning.
2. If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?
I don't know!! How can that even be a question lol? I wrote this with four “perfect” guys, all different. And one heroine to bind them all. I guess I should say Tink, since she’s kind of modeled after my daughter, who’s one of my favorite people, though my daughter is much stronger, much less fragile than my character. Though it would definitely be boatloads of fun to spend time with Ronan, my sunny Irishman. He would be nothing but joy, all day long. Maybe hit an amusement park? I could see Ronan doing that.
3. If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
Lolita. Hands down the best piece of written literature in existence to me.
4. Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?
Well, they had faceplates, obviously. I mean, once you hear “boyband” and “dimples”, only one person comes to mind, and that’s Harry Styles. Ronan is based loosely on Niall Horan, just videos I’ve seen of him, of course. And Gethin Wren has always been Jamie Bell in my head, because I’ve seen similar intensity in Jamie Bell. And Tink has always been my daughter, though as I said, my daughter is much stronger than Tink, especially in this first book. My daughter is on the covers of my books, because the photographs were affordable, and I think she’s kinda pretty.
5. What made you want to become a writer?

My students were FOFOM (full on freak out mode) over the band I mentioned earlier going on hiatus, and I thought I could write something for us (yeah, I was a bit FOFOM too, I’ll admit!) to tide us over, make it easier for us? I hope I’ve succeeded.

A fresh twist on a classic story, Bellamy and the Brute proves true love really is blind.

When Bellamy McGuire is offered a summer job babysitting for the wealthy Baldwin family, she’s reluctant to accept. After all, everyone in town knows about the mysterious happenings at the mansion on the hill—including the sudden disappearance of the Baldwin’s eldest son, Tate. The former football star and golden boy of Wellhollow Springs became a hermit at the age of sixteen, and no one has seen or heard from him since. Rumors abound as to why, with whisperings about a strange illness—one that causes deformity and turned him into a real-life monster. Bellamy wants to dismiss these rumors as gossip, but when she’s told that if she takes the job, she must promise to never, ever visit the third floor of the mansion, she begins to wonder if there really is some dark truth hidden there.

Tate’s condition may not be the only secret being kept at Baldwin House. There are gaps in the family’s financial history that don’t add up, and surprising connections with unscrupulous characters. At night there are strange noises, unexplained cold drafts, and the electricity cuts out. And then there are the rose petals on the staircase. The rose petals that no one but Bellamy seems to be able to see. The rose petals that form a trail leading right up to the 3 rd floor, past the portrait of a handsome young man, and down a dark hallway where she promised she would never, ever go…

As Bellamy works to unravel the mysteries of Baldwin House and uncover the truth about Tate, she realizes that she is in way over her head… in more ways than one. Can her bravery and determination help to right the wrongs of the past and free the young man whose story has captured her heart?

#SupervillainsFallInLove

Everyone wants justice.

That’s what Assistant DA, Lulu Lightly, tells me. “Cathedral City needs you to set things right,” she says. “To rid this place of corruption, once and for all.”

I’d like to rid Lulu Lightly of her clothes. And maybe her moral superiority. But mostly her clothes.

“I want you to fight the good fight with me,” she says.

Hell, yeah. I’m always up for a fight.

“We should stand up and be the voice of the people,” she says.

Sure, I hear voices. Sometimes I even listen to them.

“Figure out what’s good for the City and put it first,” she says.

Oh, honey… what’s good for the City is bad for the people. Trust me, I know. I’m Case Reider—insane Alpha, nefarious inventor, and I understand this town better than anyone.

Cathedral City needs me all right. Just not the way you think.

I’m not the justice you’re looking for, Lulu Lightly.

I’m still the same villain you left behind.

Only now… there’s something very, very wrong with me.

EXCERPT:

“What?” I ask. “What is it, Randy? Tell me what’s going on.”

He takes one last photo out of the folder and pushes it towards me. “You’re here because of him.”

I almost stop breathing.

Case Reider.

The one boy I desperately didn’t want to leave behind when my father moved us out to Wolf Valley seven years ago.

“Yes,” I whisper. “I know him.”

“I know you know him,” Randy says softly. He places a hand on mine just as Lisa appears with another cup of coffee.

I take it from her, muttering some thanks, and then take a long, long sip before coming up for air and letting it out in a sigh.

“He was your escort for the Debutante Ball.”

“How do you know that?” I ask.

“I was there that night.” He smiles sheepishly. “Someone else’s date, obviously. I saw you with him.”

“I haven’t seen him in forever.”

Randy waves a hand in the air. “Doesn’t matter. We’re not after him.”

I feel so relieved.

“Not yet.”

My relief disappears.

“We know for a fact that Lincoln Wade is a black-hat hacker, Lulu. And Detective Molly Masters has been dating him since she came to town. But the real problem is… Lincoln Wade and Case Reider have been best friends since childhood. Do you remember those two boys who went missing twenty years ago, without a trace, then reappeared several years later with no explanation?”

“Oh, Jesus.”

“Yup,” Randy says. “Those two boys were Case and Lincoln. We think Brooks was involved somehow, but we’re not sure where they intersect. They are close now, at any rate. Lulu,” Randy says, leaning across his desk to take both my hands in his. “We need Case Reider to get to Lincoln Wade and Molly Masters, and we need you to get him for us.”

Barry
Winged
Book 14
L.M. Pruitt

Print Length: 186 pages

Publisher: SP Press

Publication Date: January 14, 2017

ASIN: B01N22VUWH

A standalone novel in the world of the international bestselling WINGED series... a glimpse in to one man's past....

It was supposed to be a simple dinner. The repayment of a debt.

I should have known Lilith would find a way to make things difficult.

Three favors. Three stories of lovers past. As Lilith said, an easy task.

I remember them all.

WARNING: THIS BOOK CONTAINS GRAPHIC LANGUAGE AND GRAPHIC SEX SCENES. READER DISCRETION IS ADVISED

Excerpt:
I leaned back,
unfolding my napkin and draping it over my lap. “So, what sort of delicacy is
on the menu this evening?”
“Oh, who knows.
I leave those sort of things to the kitchen.” Lilith waved a hand absently,
brushing the question aside as if it was no more than a fly. “It’s time for you
to pay your debt.”
“And I’m here.”
“Baraquel.” Her
smile was the sort usually reserved for cute animals and slow adults. “Did you
really think a simple dinner would be all the repayment I required?”
“Not really but
I was foolish enough to hope.” Sighing, I pulled a cigar from my coat pocket
and examined the tip. “How, then, am I supposed to repay you?”
“Three favors,
correct?” Her smile grew when I nodded. “Wonderful. Three stories, then.”
“I beg your
pardon?” I winced, shaking my head as she laughed. “Remind me to limit my time
around Joanne. I’m picking up too many of her verbal ticks for my liking.”
“If it helps,
think of this as more of a series of lectures on the right and wrong way to
conduct relationships.” She propped her elbows on the table, steepling her
fingers as she stared at me with the sort of fascination I’d seen on cats in
the instant before they pounced. “After all, you have so much advice to offer.
It would be a shame to let it go to waste.”
“My personal
life is my own.” I set the cigar down, hating the stiffness in my voice and yet
unable to do anything to correct it. “You’ve known me long enough to know
that.”
“And I’m not
asking for a rundown of every person you’ve fucked in the last few millennia.”
Her smile widened, the edges turning cruel. “Besides, even if I did, I doubt
you could provide one.”
“I remember.”
“Do you?”
“Yes.” I
clenched my fist in my lap. “I remember them all.”
“Good.” She
tapped her fingers on her lower lip. “Then tell me a story.”
