Rattle the Bones by Eric Asher blitz

Rattle the Bones
Eric Asher
Publication date: January 31st 2017
Genres: Supernatural, Suspense, Urban Fantasy

Much has been lost in the conflict with the Fae king and his allies, a conflict we hadn’t known we were in until one of our own fell at his hand. And while a great Seal between realms may have been rebuilt, dark things slipped through in the chaos, creatures who would overrun this world. Our allies are many. Our enemies are terrible. And someone ate my last chimichanga despite the fact I had marked it with a note that clearly said it was mine.

EXCERPT:

“These are the best effects I’ve ever seen,” an older girl said, maybe a teenager or just out of those awful years. “It feels like stone.”

“Momma says all the people in that shop love Satan,” a little boy said.

“I have lived enough millennia to know evil,” Aeros said. “Despite any transgression those people may have committed, they are benevolent.”

A woman on a bench nearby started fidgeting. She either didn’t realize Aeros was with us, or she thought this was all for fun.

“You have him talking to people?” Edgar said. “They think it’s a show?”

“Some of them,” Zola said as she turned and lowered her voice.

“And not an advertising gimmick?” I asked. I raised my voice. “Maybe we should hang a sign around his neck, could get some extra business.”

The Old God turned to look at me. I was fairly certain he had a few choice words for me, but he kept them to himself. There were kids present after all.

Faking It with Damian by DJ Hunnam blitz

Faking It with Damian
DJ Hunnam
Publication date: January 23rd 2017
Genres: Contemporary, Erotica, Romance

I don’t do relationships…especially not with egotistical jerks like my new boss, Damian Wood. The man is vile, arrogant, condescending… and scorching hot. If he weren’t my boss and a grade-A a*&hole, I would turn on my world-famous charm and seduce the pants right off the man. But giving in to his undeniable allure might just cost me my job. Or worse yet, my heart.

I’m a prick…and Janice Holder’s new boss. Which means I should stay away, but I’ve never claimed to be a nice guy. If I don’t get my twisted fascination under control, it will only be a matter of time before I bend her over my desk and screw her. Hard. The way I’ve imagined no fewer than a thousand times since we met. I’m playing with fire and neither of us can afford to get burned, but landing in hot water might just be worth the risk.

Faking It is a full-length, standalone office romance. It contains steamy scenes with a ton of heat and strong language intended for mature audiences.

Goodreads / Amazon

EXCERPT:

I slipped into the hallway and headed straight for Damian’s office. His door was shut, but I barged in, slamming the door behind me. With his Bluetooth headset in, he glanced up and smiled until he saw my glower.

“What did you do?” I hissed.

“Hey, I’m going to have to call you back,” Damian said to the person on the other end.

I paced back and forth as he said his goodbyes. The musky scent of his cologne permeated my senses and my body hummed in spite of my anger. He’d cut his hair since the last time I’d seen him and faint tan lines highlighted his cheekbones, I assumed from skiing. The man was sexy as hell and being enclosed with him was bringing back all of the things we’d done the last time we were in a room together.a”Hello, sweetheart. Long time no see,” he said as he leaned back in his chair and regarded me with a wry grin. His eyes trailed down my body.

“Don’t ‘sweetheart’ me.”
”Is that any way to greet your man after four long days apart?”
”What the hell is going on? Cindy just blindsided me in the bathroom.”

“Word sure does travel fast around here. I apologize you had to hear the happy news from someone else, but maybe if you hadn’t hidden in your office all day or if you’d bothered to answer any of my calls, I would have been able to fill you in.”

My face flushed hot, but I refused to let him goad me. “Fill me in now.”

“Why don’t you sit down?”

“I don’t want to sit down,” I yelled.

“Settle down. A lovers’ quarrel would be suspicious so soon after our big announcement.” He gathered his bottom lip between his teeth to hold back the grin threatening to erupt.

I stopped in front of his desk and placed both hands on the top. “I swear, if you don’t stop fucking around, I’m going to scream so loud that everyone in this building will know the truth.”

“Has anyone ever told you how beautiful you are when you’re angry?”

Shaking my head with disgust, I spun around and headed straight to the door, but he was on his feet and in front of me faster than I could blink. A man his size should not have been able to move that fast. I crossed my arms over my chest and glared.

“Get out of my way.”
”No. I’m not letting you run and hide again.”

I stomped over to his cabinet where I knew he hid the booze. I needed a drink in order to get through this conversation. I leaned over and rifled around until I felt his body sidle up behind me. His tight groan made me glance over my shoulder and I watched as his eyes trailed up my legs and landed on my ass.

“Could you be any more inappropriate?” I questioned as I poured the amber liquid into a glass.

“I’d hardly call ogling inappropriate. Now, fucking you on my desk… that would be inappropriate.”

Pinpricks of warmth erupted between my legs. With a few dirty words, the man could put all of my good intentions to waste.

“Comments like that are what got us into this mess in the first place,” I said as I breezed past him, pretending that his words had no effect. Settling into a chair, I took a large gulp and relished the burn as the liquid trailed down my throat and into my churning stomach.

He chuckled and poured himself a drink, watching me from over his shoulder. After sauntering back, he leaned against his desk, stretching his long legs out in front of him. His proximity was disarming and I considered bolting again, but took another sip of liquid courage instead.

“And what a mess it is,” he murmured.

C.K. Kelly Martin

Genres: Contemporary, Young Adult

Did you ever want something so much that it felt like a kind of sickness, one you didn’t want to be cured of? On New Year’s Eve the feeling compels seventeen-year-old Amira to text the Irish ex-boyfriend she’s been missing desperately since they broke up at the end of summer, when she returned to Canada.

They agreed they wouldn’t be friends, that it would never be enough. But that was then— back when Amira’s separated parents had shipped her off to relatives in Dublin for the summer so they could test-drive the idea of getting back together on a long haul cruise. Back when Amira was torn away from a friend in need in Toronto only to fall in love with a Dublin screenwriting class and take a step closer to her dream career. And only to fall for cousin Zoey’s bandmate, Darragh, the guy who is first her friend, then her enemy and later something much more complicated—the guy she can say anything to, the guy who makes every inch of her feel wide awake in a way she hadn’t known was possible. The guy she might never see again. Or is there, despite the distance, somehow still a chance for them?

Author Bio:

Long before I was an author I was a fan of books about Winnie the Pooh, Babar, Madeline, Anne Shirley and anything by Judy Blume. Throughout high school my favourite class was English. No surprise, then, that most of my time spent at York University in Toronto was as an English major--not the traditional way to graduate with a B.A. in Film Studies but a fine way to get a general arts education.

After getting my film studies degree I headed for Dublin, Ireland and spent the majority of the nineties there in forgettable jobs meeting unforgettable people and enjoying the buzz. I always thoughts I'd get around to writing in earnest eventually and I began writing my first novel in a flat in Dublin and finished it in a Toronto suburb. By then I'd discovered that writing about young characters felt the freshest and most exciting to me. You have most of your life to be an adult but you only grow up once.

Currently residing near Toronto with my Dub husband, I became an Irish citizen in 2001 and continue to visit Dublin as often as I can. My first young adult book, I Know It's Over, came out with Random House in September 2008 and was followed by One Lonely Degree, The Lighter Side of Life and Death, My Beating Teenage Heart and Yesterday. I released Yesterday's sequel, Tomorrow, in 2013 and put out my first adult novel, Come See About Me, as an ebook in June 2012. My most recent YA book, The Sweetest Thing You Can Sing, was published by Cormorant Books' Dancing Cat Books imprint in 2014 and I'm pleased to announce they'll be releasing my upcoming contemporary young adult novel, Delicate, on September 16th. VBT for The Singer and the Charlatan by D.C. Fergerson

The Singer and the Charlatan
by D.C. Fergerson

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Fantasy
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Leanna Moonbody dreams of playing at the Saul Amphitheater. With just one adventure to fund her trip, she meets up with a priestess that dreams of a massive flock to take on a pilgrimage. Together, Leanna will set up the crowds, and Priestess Trixi will bring them to Our Lord.

With an elf, dwarf, rogue, pixie and a paladin on their side, they set out to realize both their dreams. They just have to maneuver past a lovesick noble, the clergy, a deranged halfling that can’t seem to die, and a plague.

What could possibly go wrong?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
Ooh, this is exciting,” Leanna said with a smile, grabbing up Tear and Jonathan’s hands.
With the circle complete, Trixi looked to the ceiling.
Lord. Oh, Lord, who is great and true. Take this offering of Form R226 and whatever leftovers we have here from dinner. Commune with me so that I may be a better Fawnspear, walking the path of truth. May it be really, really funny.”
With that, the scroll burned away before their eyes. Then, nothing. The silence became awkward.
Did it not work?” Jonathan asked.
Quiet,” Trixi demanded, turning her ear to the table.
The faint sound of terribly boring music filled the space all around the table. Any old ear would think it came from the building next door, but the trained ear of a Thistlite knew better. She listened to the song for a moment with her eyes closed.
Leanna joined in, leaning in to try and make out the tune. Suddenly, a loud voice spoke out, scaring her so bad she almost fell out of her chair.
Our Lord is currently speaking with another faithful! You are very important to Our Lord! Your prayer shall be heard in the order it was received!”
Leanna broke the circle. “Oh, come on! Why did that have to be the loud part?”
Leanna, you must be quiet,” Trixi whispered. “I’m sure he’ll be here soon.”
Interview with D.C. Fergerson
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
Many years of tabletop roleplaying games. I’ve spent most of my adult life playing one campaign or another. I love being a player, but the most fun I’ve had and my biggest inspiration is in creating these stories and watching others bring their characters to life inside it, which is what I did with The Singer and the Charlatan. It allows me to interact with these characters, literally, in a way few writers ever could.
How did you do research for your book?
I never had to go farther than my kitchen table. I was able to watch these characters find their voice, develop, and grow independent of me. There are no compromises to make for the sake of the narrative that would seem out of character.
Do you have another profession besides writing?
Currently, I work full-time in IT. Basically, I repair computers over the internet for a living. It’s everything you’d expect from me, which is probably why I hate it so much.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Easily I’d enjoy being around in the post-WWII, baby boom era. Literature, especially stage plays, were at the top of their game, cinema was just born, rock and roll was about to take the world by storm, and anyone could buy a home and a piece of Americana. It was a great time to be alive.
What is your next project?
Book two, The Princess and the Holy Juggernaut, releases in a little over a month from now. Priestess Trixi and Leanna continue their adventure all the way to the fabled Magic City, friends become enemies, enemies try to kill our heroes with a Juggernaut, and a lot of people die. It’s going to be great. After that, my ‘anti-romance’ novel Horses on the Wind comes out in spring/summer, and I’m currently planning book three for the end of the year.
Excerpt One:
LILY -
I woke with a terrible headache. The pounding reminded me of the night Annie and I discovered the potency and, the next morning, the after effects of martinis. The smile that thought brought to my face quickly faded when the throbbing intensified.
I feared opening my eyes. Not sure if that would make my head hurt worse and scared what I would see. I tried to recall my evening. I didn’t remember going to bed. Truth was, I didn’t remember coming home.
No. I remembered getting on the elevator. And, arguing on the phone with Annie, before getting on the elevator. And hanging up on Annie as I got on the elevator. But that was it. No getting into my apartment; no getting into my bed. I was trying to remember more when I remembered the most important thing, Laude.
I gradually opened my eyes and there she was. Sitting right next to me, staring at me. Her ears, which usually stood straight up, were down. Her head was down, too. Not exactly cowering  but not the usual morning, happy to see you posture of my puppy. It was a bit disconcerting to see those two dark eyes fixed on me, never mind not knowing how long they had been staring at me.
FOUR NIGHTS AT SEA
Charlene “Charlie” Stanton doubts her maiden voyage on a lusty singles cruise will direct her sails toward love. But an unexpected lothario just might change the tide in her favor . . .
Charlie boarded the Cozumel-bound Lovers Sail cruise hoping for nothing more than writing an article that would make it into the pages of City Wings, a trendy travel magazine. Still recovering from a highly publicized divorce, love is the last thing on her mind—especially when she realizes she’s mistakenly booked herself a spot on a kink cruise. That is until she meets Ford, an outsider just like her, and he whips her attitude into submission. Despite rules limiting their interaction, he shows her a world where pleasure is encouraged, and nothing is forbidden. And with Ford as her anchor, she begins to wonder if she can turn four nights of fantasy into more nights of reality when the trip is over . . .
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt Two:
Four Nights at Sea

Charlie debated whether to kiss her boss or kick him in the balls. Paul was off his rocker with this one.

“That’s right, ladies. This is your chance. We’re going to feature the winning article in the Valentine’s issue,” Paul said, puffing out his mouth-watering chest and grinning haughtily. “The selected piece will join ‘Aphrodisiac Foods from Around the World’ and ‘How to Say I Love You in Twenty Languages’ in City Wings’ Valentine’s edition.”

Holy shit! This was it. This was the chance Charlie had been waiting for. It was the break she needed.

“Our readers devour anything and everything having to do with international desires,” he continued. “It’s a way to escape the daily grind and dream of possibilities. Who would have thought New Yorkers were so romantic?”

Yes, Charlene—Charlie—Stanton wanted her writing to win. She wanted to publish a real feature, with her own byline, in one of the trendiest travel magazines for New Yorkers. No, she didn’t want to compete against her friend and roommate, Kathryn Taylor, though. They’d worked together at City Wings for over two years, worked well together as copy writers and staff writers, and now Paul was pitting them against each other as feature writers. It was so messed up.

A disastrous idea.

“Get out there. Do your research,” Paul said, circling his hand above his head like he was a Texas rancher. “Lasso someone who makes your body hum, and write about the perfect place to find love, ladies.”

“Seriously, Paul? Lasso someone who makes our bodies hum?” Kathryn rolled her eyes, then smacked her forehead with the back of her hand. “Wait. Hold on a minute. Wait . . . wait. I’m seeing a handsome man, in a far off and romantic place like Paris, sweeping me off my feet.”

Paris. Kat had to go and mention Paris. Like, why? Did it really matter if Paris was the most romantic place on Earth if neither of them wanted to fly over and find out?

Charlie didn’t travel well and wasn’t in the mood for a trip to the doctor in order to get a prescription so she could get on a flight. Kathryn had to stop speaking about the perfect place to find love on the other side of the Atlantic. How did one argue the romance of Paris?
