About Sheena Hutchinson

Much like Martin Luther King it all started with a dream. The rest one can say is history. If you have read Seraphina: The Awakening I feel like you already know me inside and out. I’ve worked on the Seraphina books for over a year before I decided to publish them for the world to see. Written from my own dreams and imagination with portions taken directly from my very own journal at times. The first book is literally derived from my own thoughts and tears. When I’m not working, you can find me at my local coffeehouse writing my next saga.

Stay tuned I’ve got plenty of stories left. I have a wild imagination and a way with words. Which makes for a very lethal combination!

EXCERPT:

With nothing but two hundred yards of grass between us and the nearest row of houses, there’s no way we can escape without being seen. At least they won’t catch us with the brining salt. Now we just need to come up with a good excuse for being out here together. In the middle of the night. I wonder if they’d believe we were just stealing chocolate from the kitchen?

Taro turns to me, dark eyes intense. “Do you trust me?” he asks.

“Of course,” I answer without thought.

Before I know what’s happening, one of his arms wraps firmly around my waist. Taro draws me toward him in a rush, his other arm wrapping around my shoulders.

My boot catches on a rock and I stumble into his chest. My cheek hits his sternum, right against his heart. It pounds against my jaw in a rapid rhythm.

Even as my mind fumbles in shocked understanding, Taro places one hand under my chin. He tilts it upward and I find myself looking into his dark eyes. He leans over, his face stopping only an inch from mine.

His eyes draw me in, pinning me in place. My brain goes all fuzzy. His closeness sends strange sensations through my body. My legs feel mushy and my heart beats too fast.

He leans down, coming close, closer. Our noses touch, and my view of his eyes goes blurry.

His lips brush mine. The touch is light, like a delicate bird landing on a branch. A shockwave goes through me. My legs lose what remains of their strength and go rubbery. I throw my arms around his neck to keep myself upright.

He cinches his arms around me. The pressure of his lips on mine increases.

My eyes slide close of their own volition. My mouth develops a mind of its own, moving against Taro’s with equal pressure.

I lose all sense of place. Some distant, vague part of my mind tries to tell me something, but I can’t hear anything over the roaring of blood in my ears. The world narrows to consist of only Taro. His arms wind around me, holding me as if he never intends to let go. The strong muscles of his legs press against mine. My hands marvel at the strong tendons in his neck and the thick, spiky strands of his hair.

And his lips. I drink in the sensation of him. Our kiss deepens, becoming rough. His tongue slides into my mouth. I inhale sharply in surprise, then strengthen my grip around his neck. I kiss him back, my tongue meeting his. A meteor is streaking through my bloodstream. I am on fire. Taro lifts me off the ground, squashing me against him. We kiss each other hard.

He abruptly pulls away, breathing heavily. I blink in confusion, my breath rasping. With deliberate slowness, he sets me on my feet and takes several steps back from me. Even in the darkness, I see his flushed cheeks.

The separation clears some of the fog from my brain. I stare, dumbfounded, at Taro. I look around, trying to recall where we are and what we were doing before the kiss.

“Nice, Hudanus,” calls the rude, cackling voice of Jason Van Deer. “Always knew you had a thing for Brains. Too bad she doesn’t have better taste.”

REVIEW: The Silenced (Krewe of Hunters #15) by Heather Graham

I am a huge fan of Heather Graham. I am also a huge fram of the Krewe of Hunter's series. I love all of her characters. I love that she does not make changes to her characters even subtle ones throughout the series.

In this book Lara is a media assistant to a congressman in Washington DC. When some changes are made she cannot handle she quits. The night she quits she calls her best friend Meg Murray to tell her she is leaving DC. And is not heard from again.

Meg has just finished at the FBI Acadamy. She is just joining the Krewe. She goes to them with Lara's story. They agree to look into it with her. Meg is psychic, she can see the dead, so she fits in well with the Krewe. She has known Adam since she was a child. He had worked on a  case when her cousin was murdered. During the case Meg seen her cousin and was able to send the Police to her body. Adam told her then if she wanted to be in his Krewe when she grew up there would be a place.

During all of this other women are found murdered and mutilated. Meg just  know her friend is not dead but in big trouble and they have to find her before it is too late.

AWESOME BOOK, AWESOME WRITER, AWESOME SERIES!!!

Lily's Cowboys (Heaven Sent #1) by S.E. Smith

4*
I had to kind of battle with myself to decide if I wanted to give 3 or 4 stars. The story line was great don't get me wrong. I was way turned off by the brothers way of being demanding and demeaning to Lily though. Everything also moved a bit fast, how can you be in love from the minute you see someone and also decide that in that minute they are just gonna let you sleep with them and drag your 2 brothers in the bedroom with yall. Yes I do now this is how menage books go but I don't know maybe you should ask her first.

I did like the story line though. Lily's parents were killed by an awful man who wanted Lily for his own. He goes after Lily when she walks in and finds her dead mother. She runs away and ends up at the swollen lake, instead of letting him catch and torture he she dives into the lake and dies. For the last about 100 years she shows up to families who need her help not only as a housekeeper but to help put their lives together. When the families no longer need her she goes away.

Maggie Cunnings is trying to keep her 3 nephews straight and to help them heal their mental wounds and one his physical wounds. She is loosing the battle. She has finally had enough and decides she will find them a new housekeeper and she is going back him to Florida, she has had enough. She storms out of the house and goes to a friends cafe in town when Lily walks in and asks the owner if they know of anyone hiring a housekeeper. It's an answer to Maggie's prayers.

Maggie takes Lily back to the house shows her around and leaves her to her job. Lily doesn't want to fall in love with the sexy cowboys because she knows it won't be long until she will move on to the next family. But sometimes the heart just doesn't listen to the head.

There is also someone stalking Lily. He wants to be immortal and has decided she will tell him how.

REVIEW: The Back Building by Julie Dewey

This was a very interesting look into the world of the mentally ill. Its starts out by giving us a look into the life of Iona. Her family put her into the Willard Hospital when she was just 15 years old in 1915. The horror stories she tells while she is an patient can really make you think. Once it gets bad enough her and another patient flee for their lives. Iona is not crazy to the point she cannot function she just has imaginary friends, she is delusional.

Once she escapes she leads an almost normal life with her husband James and even has 3 children. She does have a few psychotic breaks during her life but with her husband and great friends she leads a great life.

In Part 2 of the book we are introduced to her great grand daughter who is 12 and is diagnosed with schizophrenia.  We not only see how the family deals with mental illness in todays day and age but also how the treatments have changed from over the years.

The 1st part of the book about Iona is written in first person by Iona. The second part is Iona's Grand Daughter Shirley's account of her grand daughter Jenna's journey through the system.

One of my favorite parts of the book is when Shirley finds out that after the Willard Hospital was closed someone found a room full of suitcases brought in by the patients that were stored in an attic and forgotten. The suitcases were taken and put on display in museums and taken on tours. She finds out Iona's suitcase is among them. When she goes to the main museum to actually see the suitcase you can just feel the emotion rolling off the page.

I usually do not take this long to read a book but I had it on my phone and read it while in waiting rooms for appointments and things like that. It is a relatively short book though, but very interesting.
