Love will always leave a mark, no matter how fleeting.

Tattoo artist, Seth Baxter, has had enough loss to last him a lifetime. Focused and driven, he channels his energy into making his store is the best in the business. The one thing he can certainly do without is the return of his ex-girlfriend.

Bexley Way is lost. She runs back to the only person who can help her. She’s willing to take Seth’s hurt as long as he’ll offer her the solace she craves. He needs her help in the store and she’s desperate for his forgiveness, as well as his personal brand of security.

Secrets are kept by both of them, even when their old, unresolved, feelings resurface. Each day spent in her presence is a step forward for Seth. Their relationship was never truly over to him. Yet Bexley keeps so much to herself. Protecting her heart. Protecting Seth.

But when Bexley is faced with the true horror of her situation, she has no choice but to reveal it all to Seth. However, the words barely leave her lips before it all takes a deadly turn, leaving behind more anguish than ever before.

Are Seth and Bexley strong enough to right a past wrong and give themselves a permanent future?

excerpt
“Hey.”

“Hello there, Bexley Way.”

“So formal, Seth Baxter. What can I do for you?”

He chuckled, the sound causing her nipples to tighten. “I have so many ideas for what you could do for me. However, I doubt you’d want to be on your knees for that long.”

She inhaled sharply, the guttural tone of his words stoking the embers of her lust. “Um, anyway…what did you want?”

“Noncommittal there, Bex.”

She wasn’t giving in to him. “Did you need me?”

“Again, yes, on your knees.”

She snorted when he groaned, and, thankfully, told her what he’d called for. “Got a cover-up tattoo for you. The girl had some scratcher ink vines down her right side. Mess. Total mess. She doesn’t like the idea of me or Skirt.”

“Don’t blame her.”

“Hilarious. Anyway, I showed her some of your work and she wants you. I know exactly how she feels.”

Warmth filled her chest. Would she ever get over this man? “Did she tell you what she wants over the scratcher’s work?”

“Told her you’d call to arrange an appointment. I’ve got her number here, if you want it.”

“I’ll be at the store in a couple of hours. I’ll get it then. Leave it on the desk.”

He chuckled again. “Is that your way of finding out if I’ll be here when you come in for your shift?”

“Maybe,” she said, not bothering to stop her smile from blooming across her face.

“I’ll be here, babe. You come and find me in my office, and we’ll chat about that scenario that has you on your knees.”

Bexley laughed, catching her reflection in the mirror. She looked happy. Carefree. And very much in love.

Shit.

“You’re like a teenage boy,” she scoffed. “Always thinking with your dick.”

“It’s where all the blood flows, baby. Can’t help it.”

Bexley rolled her eyes, her smile still firmly in place. “Don’t you have work to do instead of bothering me?”

“You fucking love it when I bother you.” She heard Skirt’s muffled catcall. “Skirt agrees, though he said I do have a client to ink. I’m sorry to cut this scintillating conversation short.”

“Yeah, I’m sorry, too.”

He ended the call after whispering her name. Her insides fluttered. She lowered her palm to her stomach. They could have been the perfect parents. Their teasing and affection had always been so natural, and they were slipping into that relationship now. She could feel it, and even though she should stop it from going any further until Seth understood, she couldn’t bring herself to do it. Not for the first time, she wished everything would have worked out differently.

Her phone chirped, vibrating in her hand to announce another call. Seth’s face flashed onto the screen.

“Don’t you have skin to tattoo?”

“You could at least say hello,” Seth said with a chuckle.

“I said that before—the first time you called me. What do you want this time?” She feigned impatience, when that couldn’t be further from the truth. She enjoyed talking to him.

Review Tour: Fated Hearts by Becky Flade

Fated Hearts
by Becky Flade

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  romantic suspense
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Psychiatrist Henley Elliott fled her quiet life in Cleveland for a gypsy lifestyle, trying to stay one step ahead of her painful memories. When she breaks down in quirky little Trappers' Cove, Minnesota, she meets Sheriff Carter McAlister - a man healing from his own share of hidden heartbreaks.

At the request of a friend, Carter offers Henley a job to help her get back on her feet . . . but soon he can't resist trying to sweep the intriguing woman off them. Breaking through her carefully built shell proves to be a near-impossible task, and to make matters worse, a dangerous new presence in the Cove seems to be targeting Henley. They must learn to trust in each other in order to keep her safe.

Can Henley and Carter leave their secrets and scars in the past to get a second chance at happily ever after?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Three:
“It’s not like that. Carter and I are friends. Just friends.”
“I know you were out at his place the other night. I thought—”
“It’s not like that,” she emphasized.
“Yes, it is,” Carter corrected, strolling into the room. “Hey, Doug. Morning, Doc.”
She looked around for an object to throw at him. From the wink Carter threw her way, she guessed he had a good idea of exactly what her intentions were. He wasn’t that charming. She refused to smile.
“No, it’s not,” Henley argued. Doug stood there, his expression miserable. The grin Carter wore implied he found her amusing. She eyeballed the stapler and wondered how much damage it could inflict if propelled.
“You know, Doc, hitting an officer of the law is as much a criminal act here as it is in Cleveland.” Yeah, he had her number.
“Take off that star then.” Turning up her nose, she sat with as much dignity as she could muster.
My Review:
I wish I could give this book more then 5 stars. I really fell deeply into the book. I couldn't put it down. I was roped into immediately and honestly wish it had not ended.
The main characters of the book are Henley Elliott and Carter McAlister. Both have painful secrets and both are trying to heal from their secrets.
Henley has had a rough life she was in a coma during college due to a beating and woke up with a special ability of being able to feel others feeling by touching them. She became a psychiatrist in Cleveland Ohio and got to close to one of her patients, afterwards had a mental breakdown and embarrassed her influential family. Then she ran away from everything. One day 2 years later she ends up in Trappers' Cove, Minnesota when her car breaks down.
Carter McAlister was a police officer in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. After being shot on the job and his partner was killed, Carter has his own skeletons to run from. He packs up and moves to Trappers' Cove and becomes the Sheriff in the tiny town.
Now that the 2 are in the same town can they find each other and heal their pain together? Can Carter protect Henley from the unseen and unknown danger that is following her? You will have to read it to find out.
This book pretty much has everything in it. It has romance, some paranormal, some love, some hate, some danger and more. It is a pretty clean book. There are come curse words, the couple of sex scenes are not very graphic.
I really liked that though the story was pretty detailed the details did not drag on or bore me by over doing it. There was just enough to bring the story to life in my minds eye. I loved how the story line raced along but did not leave me lost. It did not bounce from one thing to the next but flowed.
Becky really brought not just the main characters but all of the characters in the book to life. I do wish there was an epilogue at the end so I could peek in and see how great their happily ever after was if there was one. Which I am positive there has to be.
AUTHOR Bio and Links:
A coffee addict and born city girl, I tend to place my stories in and around southeast Pennsylvania, or at least have a character or two from the area. Home is where the heart is and I make mine with my very own knight in slightly tarnished armor, three beautiful daughters ranging in ages from college through pre-school, two grandsons and a charming son-in-law. When I’m not busy living my own happily ever after, I’m writing about someone else’s.
excerpt
Prologue
Sebastian
The doorbell rang and the noise resounded through the whole house, I cringed knowing that soon I’d have to be polite and presentable to my parents’ friends. I knew they had a little kid, a girl with a weird sounding name. I just hope she didn’t cry and whine as much as my friend’s little brothers and sisters do.
“Sebastian, can you come down now? Our guests have arrived.” Mom called out and I groaned.
Throwing down the controller of my video game, I trudged down the steps venting my anger with every movement.
“Here he is, Sebastian my boy.” Dad said, his arm outstretched pulling me into a hug. “Sebastian, these are our dearest friends, Cecile and Ezra Billings and their daughter Emmeline.”
“Hello, nice to meet you.”
“Oh Sebastian, you’ve grown up so much since we saw you last, I believe you were our Linnie’s age.” Mrs. Billings commented and I smiled.
“Linnie, darling, this is Sebastian. Can you say hi to Sebastian?”
A little tiny head poked from behind Mr. Billings, a big mess of brown curls came flopping out. Her face lit up as she saw me, as if I was something she’d never seen before. Her eyes were big and the weirdest color I’d ever seen, purple I think. When she stepped around to stand in front of me, I looked down at this little person while she just stared at me.
“Hi Assin.” She said with a wave, causing my parents and hers to laugh.
“Sebastian.” I said. “My name is Sebastian.”
“Assin.” She exclaimed before throwing her arms up in the air and hugging my legs.
“Aww, she likes you Sebastian.” My mother whispered to me before placing a kiss on my cheek.
“Well, I don’t like her.” I mumbled low and under my breath so no one could hear me.
