Book Description:

Marie Josette d’Orgemont, cousin to Louis XVI, watched in horror, as a rogue creature took her husband’s life before turning on her. A powerful vampire swept in and spared her life, but she never suspected that surviving meant immortality or the price she’d have to pay to protect her surviving son.

Centuries later in Miami, with her family on the verge of extinction, Marie is preoccupied with the continuation of her human bloodline. When she meets sexy and persistent, Odin Ulfsson, his icy-blue gaze and burning touch are hard to resist.

Will a forbidden romance with the Nordic werewolf be the key to her happiness or will it set in motion a wrath that endangers not only her last human heir but her entire existence?

Excerpt 1:

Marie Josette d’Orgemont maneuvered her black Bentley out of the South Beach traffic and onto the hedge-encased driveway of the Delano Hotel. Sliding in behind a glossy red Carrera, she killed the engine and turned in her seat to study her great-granddaughter, eight generations removed. “Are you ready?”
Abby nodded, but didn’t move. “I have something to tell you.”
Marie tensed. She knew of course. She’d known for days. But she clamped down on her emotions, so Abby didn’t read disappointment on her face.
“What is it, ma chérie?”
Abby took a deep breath and blurted, “I’m not pregnant.”
“I know.”
“Yes, of course you do.” With her confession in the open, Abby’s shoulders sagged.
Marie leaned over the gearshift and cupped her chin. “You are tired. You should be home with your books and not out with me all evening.”
“But you miss me when you go out alone.”
Abby was so protective you’d think she was the vampire and not the other way around. Marie smiled and brushed a light kiss on her forehead. “True. I always miss you. Let’s go then.”
They exited the Bentley and, after tipping the valet, ascended short steps past the porch with its beckoning white sofa. Indoors, the lobby stretched from end to end, dotted with massive white columns, flickering lights, and floor-to-ceiling curtains that reminded Marie of Versailles.
The white gossamer wisps billowed like ghosts as she glided past. She closed her eyes, giving in to the pull of her childhood home, of being reprimanded for chasing her cousin Louis down empty hallways. Princesses needed to appear as if their feet never touched the ground, as if they floated rather than walked. And they never, ever, ran. That was a long time ago.
Her hand went to the jeweled, cross pendant hanging between her breasts. It had been her mother’s and against her chest, it felt like the heartbeat she didn’t have.

Excerpt 2:

A hot breath burned the top of her shoulder. She froze, realizing too late she had misread the werewolf signaling behind her. How could she have been so careless? She pushed all thoughts of Abby away and mentally prepared to fight.
He towered over her, at least seven feet tall. She was a petite five feet two inches with maybe another four in heels. Despite the differential between them, what disturbed her was his stealth and agility. He had crept up behind her without her sensing him.
As he breathed, he edged closer and closer until their bodies touched and the heat emitting from his body seared through her like brushfire.
A wave of desire, fanned by the heat of his skin, coursed through her with such momentum she swayed toward him. She was dimly aware of the sheer insanity of her predicament. One minute she was fighting a lesser of his kind and the next she swelled with desire for this werewolf. What was happening to her?
He leaned into her and nudged her neck.
She couldn’t move, could only stand there and suffer the exquisite heat of their bodies molded together.
He growled, and she closed her eyes, absorbing his scent. Unlike what she had just fought, he smelled like the earth scorched by sunlight. He was exciting, and images of a blazing hearth and tangled limbs came to mind. She wanted him and the realization was as surprising as it was embarrassing.
She tilted her face up and was immediately lost in the gold depths of his eyes, more human than beast. Different. Time and place disappeared into nothingness.
He reached for her finally and the movement snapped their connection.
“State your business,” she hissed. Her hands closed into fists.
He sniffed.
“Enough, dog.” She struck him, jolting him backward. He was quicker and bigger than the others but still no match for her. Or was he? She dismissed the errant thought. He was just an animal and she was a Princess of the Blood with the essence of an ancient master running through her.
Catching him by the mane, she flipped him forward. The huge blond and silver-haired thing landed hard in front of her, but immediately recovered, jumping up into an offensive position. He growled, but didn’t attack. He backed away as upright as a human, with hind claws that clanked on the gravel.
His neck stretched and the aura around him thickened and sizzled. After a couple of pops, he shifted from wolf mixture into full naked human.
She gaped.

A Vampire Playlist

Hello! Our name is Jane Ederlyn and we’re a paranormal writing duo. Our book, Reborn, was just released last month. Not only is it the first book in our series, Princess of the Blood, but it’s also our debut.

Our vampire heroine, Marie, is a contemporary of her ill-fated cousin, Louis XVI. She has survived over 250 years and loves many styles of music, but she is particularly fond of electronic dance music. The heavy base filling her sensitive ears mimics a heartbeat and makes her feel almost human.

For us, music is a muse integral to our creative process. Here are some of the songs that inspired Reborn:

  1. Cello Suite No. 1 in G Major, BWV 1007; Prélude—Yo-Yo Ma, Bach: Cello Suites Nos. 1, 5 & 6. This piece was instrumental in the development stages of Marie, when we were in the ‘what if?’ stage.
  2. Vampire (featuring Carrie Skipper)—Armin van Buuren, A State of Trance 2008. Our favorite song! In editing, we looped it so it played over and over.
  3. Superbitch (Thomas Rubin Mix)—ML, Various Artists, 50 Techno Trance Anthem. Chapter 2.
  4. Southern Sun—Paul Oakenfold, Bunkka. Chapter 13.
  5. Do It Again (Richard Grey & Lisa Kensington Remix)—Razor-N-Guido, Do It Again Remixes. Chapter 25.
  6. Passacaglia für Violine und Bratsche Frei nach Händel (J. Halvorsen)—Elise Båtnes & Henninge Båtnes Landaas, Mozart - Halvorsen - Brustad, Violin and Viola Duos. Chapter 35.
  7. Piano Sonata No. 11 in A, K. 331 “Alla Turca”: I.—Mitsuko Uchida, Mozart: The Piano Sonatas. Chapter 37.
  8. Cosmic Love—Florence and the Machine, Lungs. Chapter 41.
  9. Don’t Disconnect—Sarah Jaffe, Don’t Disconnect. Chapter 42.
  10. Ariana Grande, Dangerous Woman—Dangerous Woman. This song helped with final edits to Chapter 11. That’s all we’re saying.

We would love to hear from you. Do you have any songs that inspire you?

 On Christmas Eve, someone might be sleeping with the fishes. . .

It’s December at the Casa Lido, which means only one thing: the Rienzi family’s traditional Christmas Eve celebration, including wine, song, and seven Italian seafood courses. As Victoria and Tim prep scungilli and calamari, Nonna directs the cooking until all is in readiness for the big night.
But the holiday cheer is interrupted by the attempted murder of Mayor Anne McCrae, who asks Vic to investigate. Trouble is, there are as many suspects as there are fishes on the Christmas Eve menu

VBT: Crime and Catnip by T. C. Lotempio

Crime and Catnip
by T. C. Lotempio

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE:  cozy mystery
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

While catering a gala for the Cruz Museum, Nora Charles agrees to look into the disappearance of director Violet Crenshaw’s niece, a case previously undertaken by her frisky feline friend Nick’s former owner, a private eye whose whereabouts are also currently unknown.

As Nora and her curious cat Nick pull at the string of clues, they begin to unravel a twisted tale of coded messages, theft, false identities, murder, and international espionage. Nora dares to hope that the labyrinth of leads will not only help them locate the missing young woman, but also solve the disappearance of the detective. That’s if Nora can stay alive long enough to find him...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt Two:
I twisted the knob and the door swung inward, almost hitting another furry shape crouched behind it. The cat that charged at me out of the darkness had a white body and an orange and white face. It’s fluffy white tail waved like a flag signaling surrender. It landed on all four paws and stood, back arched, bright blue eyes glittering.
“Yowl!”
I looked at Nick who’d sat back on his haunches and was calmly regarding the newcomer. “Is this what you wanted me to find, Nick? You wanted me to let this cat out of here?” I made an impatient gesture. “I told you I had things to do.”
I could swear that Nick shook his head. “Meeoow,” he yowled.
The other cat turned around twice, echoed Nick’s cry, and then shot like a guided missile back through the door. I peered cautiously inside. The room beyond was black as midnight, and I had no flashlight – nor did I have the cat’s extraordinary range of night vision. I felt along the wall and found a switch, which I flipped. Illumination revealed a flight of steps leading downward into what was most likely a basement or a storage area. Nick and the other cat were halfway down the stairs. Both paused, turned and looked at me and meowed plaintively.
“I do not have a good feeling about this,” I muttered. I cautiously crept down the stairway, emerging into what appeared to be the museum storeroom, filled to overflowing capacity with boxes, cabinets and trunks of varying sizes. I walked over to one and read the white and red printed label:
PROPERTY OF MEECHAM EXHIBIT
“Oh great,” I muttered. This was obviously the place where the packing was stored for the exhibit articles. The cats were dashing madly around the room – off to a large trunk on the left side, then back to me, around in a circle, and then back to the trunk. The orange and white cat began to mew pitifully as Nick chased a few red threads on the floor. Fighting the tingling feeling inching up my spine, I moved forward and saw a black Mary Jane dangling over the side, partially obscured by a swath of red satin.
With a sinking feeling, I walked all the way around, stopped and bit back a scream.
Daisy Martinelli sat sprawled in the trunk’s center, her neck cocked at a rakish angle, the red scarf tied around it pooled like a puddle of blood in her lap. One finger was caught in the scarf’s frayed edge, almost as if she were pointing. Her sightless eyes stared straight ahead, and a little bit of drool trickled out of the side of her mouth. Her arms were tangled in the folds of a scarlet cape looped carelessly around her shoulders.
I didn’t need to feel her pulse to see that she was quite, quite, dead.
Interview with T C Lotempio
Where do you get inspiration for your stories?
It could be from anywhere: something I see, a word, a phrase.  I once wrote a YA novel from the name on the side of a garbage truck!  For the Nick and Nora mysteries, I have to say my cat ROCCO is the main source of inspiration, though.
How did you do research for your book?
It all depends on the theme – Google and Wikipedia are an author’s best friend!
Do you have another profession besides writing?
Yes, I’m a compliance admin by day, author by night.  I plan to retire in a few more years, though, so then I’ll be a full time writer (with maybe a part time job at a local Barnes and Noble, I hope.
If you could go back in time, where would you go?
Definitely the era of Henry VIII. There are times when I’m convinced I was Anne Boleyn in another life.  I went to England in 2001 and saw the spot where she was buried, and I swear my neck started itching!  But seriously, I love everything about that era – the clothes, the court life glamour, the jewels!  I’ve read all the bios out on Henry VIII and his wives that I can get my hands on.
What is your next project?
My next project is a new cozy series for Crooked Lane, the Cat Rescue mysteries.  Book 1 will be out March 14, 2017!  Please tell your local libraries to order it.  and thanks so much for asking!
To keep up with all my latest projects, and to find out what other authors are up to, visit ROCCO’s blog:
Thank you so much for hosting me!
Determined to thwart Misty and fulfill her father’s wishes, Callie accepts the challenge. But is she ready to face the skeletons hidden in the attic?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Excerpt Two:

Leith let out a theatrical courtroom sigh, well practiced but over the top for his audience of one. “You haven’t really been listening, have you, Calamity?”

I was forced to admit I had not, although he now had my undivided attention. Marketville was a commuter community about an hour north of Toronto, the sort of town where families with two kids, a collie, and a cat moved to looking for a bigger house, a better school, and soccer fields. It didn’t sound much like me, or my father.

You’re saying my father owned a house in Marketville? I don’t understand. Why didn’t he live there?”

Leith shrugged. “It seems he couldn’t bear to part with it, and he couldn’t stand living in it. He’s been renting it out since 1986.”

The year my mother had left. I’d been six. I tried to remember a house in Marketville. Nothing came to mind. Even my memories of my mother were vague.

The house has gone through some hard times, what with tenants coming and going over the years,” Leith continued. “I’ve done my best to manage the property for a modest monthly maintenance fee, but not living nearby…” He colored slightly and I wondered just how modest that fee had been. I glanced back at the photo of his vibrant young family and suspected such treasures did not come cheap. There was probably alimony for the other trophy wives as well. I decided to let it go. My father had trusted him. That had to be enough.
