Blitz for: Mystery Thriller Week

We are putting together a week of celebrating Mystery, thriller, suspense, cozy, romantic suspense, and all other genres of mystery and thriller genre.  The week of February 12 - 22, 2017. It will include author interviews, book reviews, giveaways, contests, cover reveals, Q&A's, author hosting events, live chats, guest posts and educational opportunities.
We would love to have you join us and use this opportunity to get your label more in the public eye with these events.


We are so excited to contact you as a Blogger, Vlogger, or Podcaster, ti signed up for this international event.  Thank you for signing up and thanks for your willingness to provide reviews, interviews, book cover releases, Character Q&A's and other creative posts. 

Thank you in advance for your willingness to publicize the event through blog posts, tweets, and Instagram posts.

We appreciate the power that the Bloggers, vloggers, and podcasters, have in the future of books. This event will depend on a synchronized presentation for the ten days. The authors are signing up and the list of review copies, interview opportunities and guest posts offers are all provided on the Mystery Thriller Week website. Check back often as we are still adding authors daily. 

Additionally, the events calendar will be maintained with links and information. Once your posts have been scheduled, we will need the date of the post and the link to the post for publication. Having that at least 24 hours in advance, and hopefully with the two-month advance notice you can schedule it even farther ahead. You may request as many books as you are able to read and review in time for posting during #MysteryThrillerWeek. We have many excited authors that are wanting this to be a unique opportunity to find more fans. It is also a chance for your blog to get more traffic and followers. We all hope that it is as successful as possible. Be creative! We know we are working with the best, most creative people in the world and we are so happy that you have joined us. 

 We have a Facebook group and welcome you to join us there for more discussion.

Grace

“It’s finally starting to get cold.” Thomas glanced over at me and smiled as we jogged side by side. His freckles were fading now that summer was gone, but a faint splattering of them was still there.

“This isn’t cold.” I snorted and reached up to tug at my ponytail as we ran past the University. The library rose up in the distance, and I felt a sense of belonging. I’d been working there for a while, and even though I had some difficulty with some of the staff, most of the people there liked me. And it was where I could find Erik.

“Hey. Did I lose you?” My brother reached over and tugged on my sleeve.

“Oh yeah, sorry. There’s this new guy at the library, and I think I’m going to ask him out.” I turned the corner and slowed for a minute as my lungs screamed for air.

“A new guy, hm?” He didn’t look too thrilled. “I don’t like it.”

“You’re my older brother, dimwit.” I stopped by a cement bench and dropped down to fix one of my tennis shoes. “You’re not supposed to like it.”

“When do I get to meet him?” Thomas ran in place as he scanned the lawn in front of us. His smile widened as he lifted his hand and waved. “Kara. Nancy. Hey girls. Looking good.”

“Oh brother.” I stood up and reached up to adjust my hair again as I turned to see who he was waving at. Cheerleaders. Had to be. Their shorts looked more like panties, and they were wearing sports bras. “There should be a dress code out here. That’s just offensive.”

He laughed. “Just because you dress like a Granny doesn’t mean you have the right to be ugly about other girls dressing their age.”

“Oh yeah?” I lifted my eyebrow and ran my hands down my long-sleeve t-shirt. “And you’d be okay with me wearing what they have on?”

“What?” His brow pulled tight. “Hell no. That’s not happening.”

“Right.” I rolled my eyes and started to jog away from him. “What did you want to talk about that we couldn’t talk at home where it was warm and cozy?”

“Mom and Dad were there, Grace.”

“You could have come by my apartment.” I glanced over at him, noticing the dark circles under his eyes now that I was really looking. He’d been a little on edge lately, but he was nearing his last senior semester at NYU. I assumed it had everything to do with that. What other stress could he have in his life? He was president of the largest fraternity on campus and everyone worshiped the ground he walked on.

Everyone but Jenna. I forced myself not to chuckle. My poor brother had been after my best friend for years, and Jenna was oblivious to it. Now he was too late. She was dating a hottie bad boy from the coffee shop where she worked.

“I hate going to your apartment.” He shook his head. “It’s embarrassing enough getting caught in a movie that has a sex scene with your little sister, but to go to her apartment and hear the perverts next door bonking every fifteen minutes is sick. No fucking way. Count me out.”

“They’re in love, Thomas. It’s cute.”

“Fucking all the time is cute?” He lifted his hand as he paled a little. “You know what? Don’t answer that. We’re good just talking out here.”

“Alright. Spill then.” I laughed as he gave me a ‘watch it’ look. My brother was a bit of a prude from what I knew, but we never really talked too much about our love lives. That was gross.

Love life. What a fucking joke. I’d never been tongue kissed by a guy, much less anything else. After my mother had Thomas when she was sixteen, she used a scare tactic to keep me a virgin, and it worked well.

I’d never been around anyone that left me wanting to defy her and my father and spread my legs anyways. Not until Erik Bertinelli. The thought of him left my heart racing, my body tightening. The things I wanted him to do to me were over the top, horrible, embarrassing.

Excerpt 1
I rounded the corner to the health and beauty department when the phone rang again. “Hi, Aaron.”
“Tessa, we have a case. Can you meet me in Winter Park in an hour?”
I stopped in the middle of the aisle and hung my head. “I’m at the store. What kind of case?”
“Suicide from the sound of it. The deceased’s partner found him hanging from a tree in the backyard.” Aaron’s voice lacked its usual humor. He’d either had a late night or rough day, maybe both.
“Sure. Text me the address. What’s the victim’s name?” I had no idea what I would do with the room full of people waiting for me at the house, but skipping out on dinner with Darlene made me happy.
“Thanks, Tessa. You’re a doll. Partridge. The deceased’s name is Partridge.”
I glanced around to make sure no one was watching before I loaded two containers of Mae’s fiber mix into the cart. “What kind of tree was it?”
“Orange tree, why?”
It was probably a sin to laugh at the dead, but I couldn’t help it. “We have a Partridge in an orange tree.”
Aaron groaned. “I’ll send the address. Try to hurry.”

My Review. 
First I liked the fact that this book takes place in a real place and real close to where I live, it takes place in the Orlando area. I can relate to the I-4 corridor, and the construction there. I live about 1 1/2 hours from Orlando. 

 This is my first book written by Kathryn Hearst, and my first Tessa Lamar book. I do wish while reading this book I had read the first book as well since there were a few spots I was wondering what or who they were talking about. I did make it through without the first book without being to lost though.

 The book is a very busy book. It plays more on the personal side of Tessa's life then finding the killer. I did feel a bit bad for poor sex starved Tessa but after a while I got a touch bored with her hormones. Other then that I really enjoyed the story.

Kathryn M. Hearst is a southern girl with a love of the dark and strange. She has been a storyteller her entire life, as a child, she took people watching to new heights by creating back stories of complete strangers. Besides writing, she has a passion for shoes, vintage clothing, antique British cars, music, musicians and all things musical (including theater). Kate lives in central Florida with her chocolate lab, Jolene; and two rescue pups, Jagger and Roxanne. She is a self-proclaimed nerd, raising a nerdling.

As I go to hand him his key and re-washable cup, I remind him that “the lobby coffee is free”, and he glances at my name tag.

I lazily connect my last sentence with the next, saying “Jec, for short”.

He pauses, then shakes his head and asks “What if I want to call you something different?”

I meet his eyes with a stare of my own, slow to respond, blink, and say “It will be okay Abram.” His face scrunches for a moment and his eyes look as though he is wondering straight through me. My glance falls deeper into the hole of an eye, and I see a marble in the night, the dark side of a full moon, which can be plucked right out of the sky to place a piece of the void heaven filled should I grab it and tuck it into my pocket.

The ascension falling as the walls collapse to drop a cloud in his ear, a long fiber weaves my wonder, wherefore out there did he discover?

And I conceived a thought of a single droplet, enough months from now, falling into a gravitationally absent drip time has lost, and him not.

Before I can tell if he eased his facial expression, he walks off keys in hand without another word.

“See, I told you. Killer” Bobby says flatly, and I just return to checking my emails.

“You need to learn a little hand-to-hand combat.” Trey puts his fists up by his face. “Always protect your soft spots—your face being numero uno.” He glances at my bandaged arm. “You right-handed?”

It’s after breakfast and we’re in the training facility, a large, gym-type room with thick mats, punching bags, weights, and a long wall of mirrors. The smell of sweat and stinky feet assault my nose as I stand across from him on the pile of black mats used to create a “ring”. We have the gym to ourselves. Most likely because everyone else is too smart to work out right after a meal.

I nod and flex my right hand, the one that’s not bandaged.

“You should be fine, then. I’ll take it easy on you.” He grins. “Go ahead—hit me.”

I take a step back and shake my head. “I’m not gonna hit you.”

He moves forward to decrease the distance between us. “I said, hit me.”

I raise my arms as if I’m about to fight him, but all I can think is how much he’s done to help me. How can I punch the man who saved me from the government facility, removed my tracker, and is willing to help rescue my mother?

When he realizes I won’t fight, he lowers his hands. “Remember, Sienna, these men don’t care that you’re a girl. They don’t care how old you are. If given the opportunity, they will hurt you.” His eyes harden. “Now hit me.”

I punch him as hard as I can, and he’s not expecting it. The force of the blow to his face knocks him backward, and my hand throbs from the impact. He looks stunned, especially when a trickle of blood makes its way out of his nose. But then he grins.

Wiping his nose on his shirt, he motions with his hands for me to come closer. “Nicely done. Now, hit me again.”

Surely, he must be crazy. I’m about to walk away, but his words echo in my mind. If given the opportunity, they will hurt you. I can’t give them that opportunity.

“You must be the famous Libitz,” he’d opened, taking his assigned seat beside her, and flashing his sexiest grin.

“What?” asked J.C., feeling completely turned around.

Well, fuck me, thought J.C., taking another gulp of beer as he tried to figure out if he was insulted or impressed. After a moment, he nudged her in the side with his elbow and she looked at him over her shoulder, her expression annoyed.

“Yes?”

“I hear the temperature’s dropping there,” he said casually, then added, “because they’re expecting a visit from you.”

“Ha!” she chortled, a genuine grin brightening her eyes for a moment before she quickly reigned it back in to practiced ennui. “Is that right?”

He shrugged, tipping his bottle of beer back as he held her eyes, challenging her to come back at him with something clever. “So I heard.”

“From all the friends you’ve got there?”

He almost spit his beer out. Damn, but she was quick.

“Truce?’ he asked, placing his beer on the table and holding out his hand.

She stared at his hand for a moment, then looked away, leaning forward to pick up her champagne glass and bringing it slowly to her lips. “No, thanks. Mama didn’t raise no fool.”

“You’re unreal.” She shook her head, that bored look still in place.

“Nope. I’m real. I’m just not a good target for charming scamps looking for trouble.”

“A target? Shit. Who got to you?” he asked, feeling a little abused by her insta-judgement of him without actually getting a chance to know him in person. Not that she was wrong exactly. But getting into trouble with the right person could be a hell of a lot of fun.

“The list is long and distinguished,” she shot back.

His eyes widened and his lips wobbled.

“Oh, God,” she said, shaking her head as her cheeks bloomed an appealing pink under her make-up. “I walked right into that one didn’t I?”

“Yes, you did,” said J.C. with what he hoped was a disarming grin. “All together, now…”

“So’s my Johnson,” they said at the same time, quoting the rebuttal line from Top Gun.

“Hey, look at that,” he said, still smiling at her. “You do know how to have fun. I was beginning to worry.”

Her smile instantly faded. “You’re not as cute as you think you are.”

“Yeah,” he said, nodding as he finished the last of his beer. “I am.”

She flushed and looked down at her paper to compose herself. “I do,” she said quietly. “I appreciate your faith in me.” When he said nothing, she amended, “Or maybe this is a test, in which case, I plan to pass it.” She lifted her chin.

A smile flashed around both corners of his mouth but it disappeared as quickly as it had come. “Go,” he said, with his characteristic curtness.

She stood and walked to the door. Grasping the knob, she screwed up her courage and turned around. “Mr. Stone?”

He turned from his computer screen and raised an eyebrow.

“Did you hire me for this job because you actually think I show promise or is it because—” she stopped.

He didn’t help, gazing at her with both eyebrows raised now.

She swallowed. “Because you like the way I look in a skirt?”

The smile flitted across his face and his eyes dropped to her skirt and down her legs.

She flushed, wishing she hadn’t said it.

“Get out, Ashley.”
