Excerpt Three:

"A psychic? Have you lost your mind?” Zach says, but the group files in the dimly lit room- the smell of incense wafting over them.

From the walls hang deep purple curtains, there are black couches pushed to the sides of the room and in the center is a coffee table with a pile of "Magic Today" magazines. As the door swings to close the bell at the top ring and a woman comes down the hall to the room. The woman has long black dreaded hair that is pulled into a ponytail and eyes rimmed with dark eyeliner, introducing herself as Madam Neprine she begins calling them back individually. Adaline is called back first.

Following Madam Neprine into the back room Adaline becomes extremely nervous all of a sudden. The room is even darker than the one they entered before with deep blue walls and no windows, this remind her with her parents, they were killed in a car crash when they swerved off the road and into a river unable to get out of the car. Adaline becomes extremely fearful of being trapped. Nervously Adaline sits across from Madam Neprine as the woman takes both of her hands and closes her eyes.

“I see a big change in your life. You have a troubled past that will come back to haunt you in the next couple of months. A great war will find you as well as even greater love.”

As a kid did you write or make up?
Make up stories. As a kid I always had a story up in my head. I always wanted to write books since I was a little girl. Running around acting out scenes from my stories.
Where does most of your Character inspiration come from?
Lets see ,most of my character inspiration come from people that I know or people I know knew of them. It’s fun to also make up a charter on my own. Its all depend on what the story call for. I made up all of the characters in my screen-play PIT BOSS.
Do some qualities of your characters come from real people?
Yes and No, all depend on what the story again. I can’t really say that I do or not. I guess that I have to think about it.
What was the inspiration for your book?
Life in the mafia from a woman view point, Love, joy, and pain when you are in love with someone. I love my mafia-romance because to me I am telling the truth about it all in that kind of life.
What is your favorite spot to write?
I don't have one. I have a laptop so I can write anywhere I please.

BLURB:

Rosario Hernandez doesn't ask for much. She'd like to sleep on a bed instead of a sidewalk, to know where her next meal is coming from, and maybe, if she's really feeling optimistic, to get a girlfriend. More than anything, though, she wants her best friend Arkay to not murder anyone— because Arkay is a dragon, claws and all, and she has a penchant for vigilante justice. When Arkay's latest escapade goes sour, Rosario gets stuck with a stolen van and a cooler full of human organs. Now they're on the run, and it's not just the cops who want answers. The owner of the cooler is still out there, and they want to replace what they've lost— by any means necessary.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
The Cooler:
What have ya got there?” Raimo asked when his inspection reached the back of the van.
No clue,” I said, coming around front. “The guy we got this from said he was delivering something.”
Like what, a case of beer?” He tipped the box back a few inches, and it made a wet gravelly sound. “It looks like a cooler.”
Must have been some excellent beer,” I said, tapping the padlock that sealed the lid. “You don’t get ice boxes like this at Walmart.”
An excited grin crossed Raimo’s face. “Let’s find out, shall we? Give me a second.” He vanished into the garage and came out with what I could only describe as a murder weapon. “Watch your fingers, Hiccup.”
This wasn’t a friendly little set of bolt cutters. It had wicked blades nearly as long as “Isn’t that a bit excessive?” I asked.
I know, right?” he squealed. “I just got her in. Isn’t she gorgeous? I’m going to call her Matilda.”
Ooh, did Raimo get a new toy?” Arkay called from inside. “I wanna see!” She bounded out to join us, bits of moisture still dripping down from her damp hair.
The padlock could probably have been pulled off with a solid pull, but Raimo caught the remaining sliver of metal between Matilda’s jaws with an almost dainty twist. Another roar, and the pieces fell away.
All right,” Arkay said, taking the lid with both hands. “Let’s see what we’ve got here.”
Matilda hit the floor with a solid thunk as Raimo stumbled back. “Jesus Christ!”
It took me a moment longer to make sense of the metallic, meaty smell and the sudden flash of red.
JW Troemner was born in Germany and immigrated to the United States, where she lives with her partner in a house full of pets. Most days she can be found gazing longingly at sinkholes and abandoned buildings.
Interview with JW Troemner
As a kid did you write or make up stories?
All the time!
When I was really little, I had my older brother convinced that I was a space alien who had snuck to earth while on a field trip. I’ve got to say, researching was a whole lot easier when I was five—my brother was really into science, so he’d look up all sorts of interesting plants and animals and ask me if I’d seen anything like it on my space adventure, usually answered with “oh my gosh, yes! How did you know?” He wound up charting my entire “journey” all over the world.
I kept insisting on that one for months before I finally gave it up and moved on to something else.
Where does most of your character inspiration come from?
Usually I’ll pick one particular image or idea that the character evokes and explore as much as I can of that idea. When I was writing Fext, I had a very clear image in my head of a Russian ballerina, so I immersed myself in all things ballet while writing her. After I refined the character a few times, very little of the original dancer was left, but she retained a lot of a ballerina’s discipline and elegance, and an utter refusal to put up with anybody else’s ineptitude.
Do some qualities of your characters come from real people?
I’m one of those people who thinks every character is a really exaggerated facet of the person who wrote them, or at least someone they know. Arkay got a lot of my anger and Rosario got a lot of my mother’s compassion (and my personal ineptitude with sports), but the most specific example was based on someone I never met personally. The character of Mike Jones was inspired by Maurice Young (http://www.tedxindianapolis.com/speakers/maurice-young/ or  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgZZ7r-AR3A ), a major advocate for the homeless and the mayor of the Irish Hill homeless camp in Indianapolis before it was destroyed.
What was the inspiration for your book?
The story actually started out as more or less of a thought experiment. During commercial breaks in my TV shows, or between chapters of whatever book I was reading, I would mentally plot out how it was probably going to end, and how it could potentially end.
A lot of times, that potential manifested as an outside character asking the heroes some basic questions, like why they hadn’t bothered actually talking to the obviously sentient monster, or why they insisted on using flashlights when they had a phone right there, and if they were going to dedicate their lives to hunting superpowered monsters, why hadn’t they bothered investing in a decent health insurance plan? Eventually that voice of snarky reason became Arkay, and the story formed around her.
What is your favorite spot to write?
I wish I could say the coffee shops around town, because there’s a ton of amazing ones in my area and I’d love to spend all the time in the world in them. But for the life of me, I can never manage it. People seem to take an open laptop as an invitation to ask what I’m writing about and then start in-depth conversations. It’s lots of fun, but I never get anything written!
Thankfully, I’ve got an office at home that’s quiet and people-free. And the best part is that there’s usually a dog keeping my feet warm as I type.
What advice would you give budding writers?
The process of writing is going to be different from writer to writer—sometimes even from writing session to writing session—and any writing advice you get from somebody else might not work for you (or it might one day and not the next). Don’t sweat it, and don’t try to force a process that doesn’t actually work for you. Keep trying different things until you find something that does.
Big Bear, Little Bear by Julia Talbot
Big Bear, Little Bear
Midnight Rodeo
Book Three
Julia Talbot
Genre: Gay shifter romance
Publisher: All Romance eBooks
Date of Publication:  9/1/2016
ISBN: 978-1-945193-14-9
Word Count: 20000
Cover Artist: Erin Dameron Hill
Book Description:
Little bear comes into his own.
Ben Ursa has been out of the Midnight Rodeo game for a while, recovering from a terrible head injury. When he comes back, he finds a whole new place in the pecking order, his trained horses in high demand.
He also finds rodeo clown and grizzly shifter, Ozzie, who rejected him for being too young before. Now Ozzie thinks he's just right, even if he is a little black bear. Can Ben really recover and become Ozzie's mate, or will his family scheme to keep him "little bear"?
Excerpt:
“Man, the bullfighters all have their panties in a wad. I hope to hell they settle it out.” Ozzie wiped makeup off his forehead, growling a little at Thack’s assistant, January.
“You and me and the boss and the big boss and every other creature here, sir.”
Sir.
God, the wee little brownie was adorable. Such a cutie, with his little square glasses and his tiny soul patch of a beard.
Squishable.
Ozzie wanted to hug January and lick him, maybe. Definitely sniff him. Ozzie reined in his bear tendencies, which could crop up at the least convenient times. His desire wasn’t even sexual. More teddy bear like.
“So, tell me about the next venue,” Ozzie said. Their next stop was at a brand new arena.
“It’s near Santa Fe, sir. A charming arena with adequate facilities and a fabulous local pool of talent. They’re… surprisingly active there.”
“Are they? Good. We need more talent in the timed events.”
“Yes. Yes, I believe Ben Ursa will be rejoining us. Mr. Thackery is very pleased.”
Ben? Ben Ursa?
Poor kid. Ozzie remembered him well, and not only for his name, which was as bad as Osbourne McMahon. Bear Son of the Bear. Ben Ursa was Grizzly Adams meeting Latin.
“They get his brains all unrattled? Last time I saw him, he was in a bad way.”
“That depends on who you ask. January, I need the manifests for the drivers.” Thack nodded to Ozzie as January scrambled.
“Oh. Poor kid. But he’s good to ride?” He had to admit he’d had a thing for Ben, but he’d ignored it, waiting for the kid to be more confident. Hell, he felt like shit over it because the night the kid had gotten hurt, Ben tried to make a move on Ozzie, which he rebuffed.
He wanted Ben to be all grown-up first.
“He’s got a hard head.” Thack shrugged. “Shit, man, you know the kid is terrible at his job. He trains the best horses, though.”
“He does.” Good hazing, roping, and bulldogging horses were worth their weight in gold in their business. Worth enough to give a bad bulldogger a job. “I’ll have to stop by his trailer and say hi.”
It would be good to have another bear on tour again. Someone who understood about naps and salmon. Mmm. Salmon. He did love that stuff. Honey, too.
“He’s in the big black trailer with the bear painted on it.”
“Good deal.” He’d drop by on his way to get some food. Wave. Sniff some.
Thack nodded. “Good show, man.”
“Thank you.” Ozzie loved his job. He got to play on his natural bearish clumsiness and be a smart-ass at the same time.
Thack smiled, and Jesus fuck, that was creepy. All teeth and horns. Demons. Scary like whoa sometimes.
Ozzie waved and headed to see the little bear. Wow. That trailer was nicer than his. Way nicer.
Little Ben had family with money, with land, with amazing horses. Talk about a bear with a silver honey spoon in his mouth.
Ozzie grinned. Of course, the kid had also been hurt so bad a few seasons ago that he had to learn how to walk all over again. That meant the kid had grit. Determination.
He knocked on the trailer door, the little bear’s voice ringing out. “Coming!”
Ozzie tried to peer inside, but the window by the door was too small to get a good view.
The door opened up, bright button eyes shining at him from Ben’s smiling face. “Oz!”
“Hey, buddy.” Oh, look at that. Ben looked so much better than he had last time Ozzie had seen him.
“Come in. Come in. I just got here.” Ben was little for a bear, but a solid, broad shouldered man with a shock of pitch-black hair. He looked healthier, the skinny and pallor wore clean off from when he’d been hurt.
“Thanks. Thack said you were back.”
“I’m trying to be, yeah. It was touch and go.”
“Well, I’m glad you’re better, kiddo.” Man, the inside of the fifth wheel was amazing, a big kitchen and a huge platform bed visible in the back.
“Have a sit.”
The place was like a rolling condo—someone’s momma wanted to assure her cub was comfortable and safe.
He didn’t even have to move dirty clothes off the built-in sofa before he sat. “Nice place.”
“Yeah. Momma Bear. You know.”
“I do.” He’d met Ben’s mom. She was something else.
Ben blushed, head ducking, and Ozzie saw the scar, heavy and thick against his scalp. Damn.
“Hey, my mom still packs my lunch when she comes to visit. Smoked salmon tea sandwiches,” Ozzie said.
“I like smoked salmon. Lots. You want a beer?”
“Honey wheat?”
Ben nodded. “I got a six-pack. You’re off work, hmm?”
“I am.” He settled back, just—Man, it was nice to have another bear around, the scent familiar. Comforting. He forgot, sometimes, how alone he felt. Seeing Ben reminded him how much he’d liked the kid, too.
Little Ben brought him a beer, settling down across from him, all grins. Such a cutie. Really, Ozzie felt a little pervy around Ben. Just a little. Ben was gentle, peaceful, not a bit of growl in him.
Ozzie grinned. He had a lot of grr. A lot of grizzly.
JAR-OWL J1 Anti-ghosting 104Keys Wired Gaming Keyboards LED Backlit
This keyboard is AWESOME!! There are so many ways the lights work on this thing. You can have it set to where it light ups when you tap the keys, it can rotate light s all over the place. I am attaching a video showing all the light settings. The I key on my keyboard does not light up but everything else works great. This is actually a fun keyboard to type on, and the kids love watching the lights change. One setting will allow the keyboard to constantly change colors by running lines of multicolored lights back and forth. This keyboard works well with but my desk top and laptop. It has a USB plug in. All of my kids want to steal it.
