Book Description:
Bound by blood. Bound by loyalties. Bound by love.
Florian has it all: excellent fashion sense, a kickass job with his best friend, and a hard-won place among Silverton’s werewolves. When a pack of females pads into their territory, Flo’s alpha dispatches him to handle a merger. Total cakewalk. Except Keely, their alpha, has no intention of submitting her wolves to Flo's larger pack. Worse, a single glance from her baby blues sends his eloquence on vacation and his heartbeat into overdrive. His flirtations seem welcome too, but there's a snag. She doesn’t know he’s a vampire.
While Flo struggles with his conflicts—obey his alpha, or win over Keely—his estranged sire blasts into town with a catalog of radical ideas. And hanging out with unsophisticated werewolves didn't make the list.
With violence in the air and all sides testing his loyalties, Florian must bite back, even if showing his fangs costs him the girl.

Excerpt (romance)

Keely led me around the side of the camp to an area where ropes, wooden blocks, and tires lay strewn in the grass. Despite her heels sinking into the uneven ground, she kept her poise.

“We want to set up a few swings.” She pointed at the grassy surface.

I took a quick count of the materials. “There's enough here for two swings, a seesaw and maybe a fort.”

“A fort?” She gave a laugh, light and carefree.

I stood taller. “You have boys here, right? You gotta have a fort.”

“If you say so. Come on then.” She kicked off her shoes and strode barefoot toward a wooden beam.

“We need a saw.”

She gestured to my right. “Will that do?”

“Yes.” I picked it up. “Come on, give me a hand.”

Together, we cut the ends of four sturdy posts at roughly twenty-degree angles. Sawing wasn't a hobby of mine, but it seemed appropriately manly. The kind of work a male werewolf might perform.

“Have you done this before?” She used her weight to hold down the long end, exposing more cleavage than a man holding dangerous tools should see.

“No. But I've read about it.” I placed the saw and moved it back and forth until the corner dropped into the grass. “It didn’t seem difficult.”

“You read about building a swing set?” She exchanged one board for another, which got the same treatment. “That must have been a riveting read. You should join us for book club and tell us about it.”

I chuckled. “My memory has a thing for remembering weird information. Like how to build the frame, but not where I read it. Sorry. Am I still invited?”

“Sure. We’ll be discussing the complexities and metaphors of Little Women. You can bring the snacks.”

“There is no book club, is there?”

She straightened and ran the back of her hand over her glistening forehead. “No. Maybe next month.”

A honeymoon...

Traveling to the sandy beaches of Sardinia, Italy, the couple will explore what brought them together in the first place, instead of the life that constantly threatens to tear them apart.

EXCERPT

More importantly, was the man seated behind the cherry-wood desk. He was in his late fifties from what Mishca had told her, but just by looking at him, she wouldn’t have guessed that. His eyes were a dark gray, his black hair graying at the temples. Upon seeing her, he smiled, standing to his full height, which was just a few inches shorter than Mishca, and came around the desk, extending his hand.

“You must be Lauren,” he said coolly, his accent much thicker than Mishca’s, making Lauren have to concentrate to understand him. “It is nice to finally put a face to the name.”

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Volkov,” she said, taking his hand. He had a firm handshake despite his age, and made quite the imposing sight. Whereas Mishca was lean, he was built like a bull.

“Please,” he said, waving a hand. “There is no need for such formalities, call me Mikhail. I trust you have met my wife, Anya.”

“Yes,” she replied, smiling over at Anya.

“Please have a seat,” Mikhail offered, gesturing out to the comfortable looking wingback chairs that were grouped together near the fireplace. “I must confess,” he went on after they were all seated, “when Mishca told me he was going to bring a girl here, I was astonished. I have never met any of the girls in his life.”

Lauren’s brows shot up as she glanced at Mishca. A muscle ticked in his jaw, but he didn’t comment.

“He must care for you greatly to bring you here.”

Mishca scoffed. “You’re going to scare her off.”

Mikhail’s face split into a grin, his eyes warming. “Nonsense. It is a reasonable assumption, no?”

They broke out into a heated discussion in Russian, snapping back and forth, but while Mishca seemed to be growing angrier, Mikhail only appeared amused.

“Would you care for something to drink, Lauren?” Anya asked, cutting in over them, walking over to an antique whiskey service that held several carafes of dark Amber liquid and a couple bottles of water.

She looked between Mishca and Mikhail, shaking her head. “No, I’m fine. Thank you.”

Mikhail turned his attention to the bay windows as a car drove up. “It looks like your sister is here. Could you escort her in?”

Mishca hesitated, his eyes flickering to Lauren, but he ultimately stood and walked out without glancing back.

“You’ll have to excuse my son,” Mikhail said conversationally, as he accepted his drink from Anya. “Love makes a man blind.”

She was momentarily taken aback by what he was saying. To be honest, she had never thought that they were there in their relationship.

“You don’t think so?” He asked reading her expression. “You are more important to him than you realize.

Samuel stood beside his mother’s rain-speckled casket. He had cried his tears dry, so there was no point in trying to find more.

“Chin up, young man,” Aunt Janis said as her fingers nudged Samuel’s jaw upward. “Death is just part of life, and our photographer needs a good picture of you for the newspapers.”

A camera flashed, leaving Samuel’s red and swollen eyes burning as if stung by the sun instead of grief.

So many important days had come and gone without his father, but surely he would come home today, wouldn’t he? Samuel closed his eyes. He pretended his father was beside him holding his hand. They had a right to hold hands, he told himself. Not because he was ten, but because it was his mother’s funeral. Two years had passed since his father left, never to be seen again. Vanished, was the word his mother had used. Into thin air, she’d said.

“Take that silly thing off.” Aunt Janis flicked Samuel’s wood and bead necklace.

“No,” he said and shook his head. “My dad gave it to me.” It was a pinewood tile, the size of a domino shaved nickel-thin, which hung from a leather cord around his neck. Burned onto the front side of the wood was a lightning bolt. Its flipside bore the blackened imprint of a tribal dancer. It had a turquoise nugget and a shiny black hematite bead strung together on each side. His father had given the talisman to him with a promise: It will guide you and give you strength when you need it most.

Today, dressed in a black suit and starchy white shirt, Samuel wore it in hopes the promise was true.

As mourners gathered, Samuel’s friend Brian came to stand beside him. “Hey,” he said.

“Hey,” Samuel answered without taking his eyes off the casket.

“Is that the necklace your dad gave you? You don’t usually wear it.” Brian’s wire-rimmed glasses slid down his straight arrow nose. He pushed them back up the bridge with one finger until they encircled his eyes again. “Can I see it? I promise I’ll give it right back.”

“It’s not a necklace.” Samuel pulled the leather cord off over his head, mussing his overgrown blond hair. “It’s a talisman.” He handed it to Brian. “My dad said it would help me, but it hasn’t done anything yet. I think it was just one of his stories. It’s probably just an old piece of scrap wood with a couple rocks tied to it.”

Brian shrugged after examining the piece then he handed it back to Samuel. “I think it’s cool. You should keep wearing it anyway.”

Nodding, Samuel hung the talisman around his neck again, but this time he dropped it down beneath his shirt where it was no longer visible. It felt warm against his skin.

“Has anybody told you where you’re going to live now?” Brian asked.

“Probably with Aunt Janis and Uncle Jack.”

Brian frowned. He kicked the tip of his shoe into the muddy soil. “They live so far away. Why can’t you just stay here and live with Mrs. Abel? She doesn’t have any kids.”

Mrs. Abel was their fourth grade teacher. She had plainly stated to all who would listen that her job was to teach the proper use of the English language to children who behaved properly. A babysitter, she had said, she was not. Today, she stood in the rain with the other mourners, eyeing the ground where the hem of her long, gray dress lay caked in mud. Tufts of brown hair jutted out from under her pink plaid scarf. Even though she stood a few feet from him, she had not spoken to Samuel since his mother’s death. Few people had. Everyone had words for Aunt Janis and they talked to Uncle Jack, but no one but Brian and a few classmates had spoken to him. Maybe talking to an orphan was harder than talking to a normal kid.

Potato Masher + Vegetable Peeler kitchen set by Tevelo Kitchenware

I guess you could say I am an old school kind of cook. I like my iron skillets, my whisks, a my potato mashers. I do as much by hand as possible in the kitchen even though I have just about every electric kitchen gadget you can think of. I really love what my husband calls smashed potatoes. I like them a little chunky instead of totally smooth. Not sure why, maybe because I was raised on Smashed tators or maybe its just a consistency thing. Anyway, this tator smasher is great. I love the handle on it best of all. Instead of just having a handle that runs of the center I can get a better grip with the handle running across and I never end with my hand slipping and sliding into a nice hot bowl of mashed potatoes and burning my hand. It leaves small chunks of potato the way I like it as well. You can make them smooth with this by the amount of time you mash and by twisting and turning while you mash. I choose not to. This also comes with a very nice peeler, that makes peeling vegetables easy. Both are dishwasher safe.

Jastore® Little Girls Colorful 3pcs Mermaid Tail Swimsuit Princess Bikini Set

The word adorable really doesn't come close to describing this Mermaid bathing suit, but I can't come up with a better word.  The 3 piece suit is just awesome. I love the rainbow color effect of it. This could also be worn as a cute little outfit with the top and shorts. The skirt is a bit hard to run in but walking in small steps is fine.. It is more or a after you get out of the water to dry off with piece. The whole outfit is washer and dryer safe. It is made out of Polyester and Cotton blend.

I got this for my Grand Daughter and we both love it. It is so cute on her. She has been wearing this to her swim class and it is holding up great with the chlorine and other pool chemicals. The shorts fit great. The top was a little loose but the strap holds it up well enough that it does not come off on her. The stitching on all 3 pieces is great, the outfit is not going to fall apart after a few wears. The material almost feels silky and is very soft.

I received this product free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

Colleer Reusable Invisible Strapless Self Adhesive Backless Silicone Bra

This did not work out well for me, probably because I am middle aged and have the sag starting, or because my chest is D cup and the girls are pretty heavy. For my 26 year old Daughter it worked well. So this review is mainly her experience with the bra. It did give us both the cleavage every woman wants but I would also have to wear a bra. She was able to wear it just fine. The inside of the bra is self adhesive and quite sticky feeling to the touch and held on to the skin very well. It does stay in place and unlike strapless bras you aren't having to pull it up and back in place. I was worried about cleaning it but running it under water and rubbing it with your fingers seems to work pretty well. It does come in a nice zippered case to store it in and keep it clean between uses. We kept the little plastic sheets that were covering the indie of the cups and put them back over them when storing. I really liked that it has a spot that the nipple fits into and is not sticky there. This is a nice bra and looks really cute, just not enough support for older and large heavy breasts.

I received this product free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

About Tamra Lassiter

Tamra

I live outside Washington, D.C. with my wonderfully supportive husband and two daughters, one of which is approaching her teenage years. Help us all! If that isn’t enough, we have a Great Dane and an English Bulldog to keep us on our toes. It’s crazy around here, and I love every minute of it!

Writing is my third career. I didn’t set out to be a writer, it was just meant to be. My Mechanical Engineering degree from Virginia Tech prepared me well for my first career as an Engineer/Program Manager. My second career was in Human Resources. Long story, but I figured it out. I believe the best start for a writing career is to be a reader first, and I’ve been an avid reader my whole life. I’ve loved to read ever since I picked up my first Nancy Drew mystery in the fourth grade. Now, I love reading just about everything, but I don’t read sad books. I don’t watch sad movies either for that matter, no matter how many awards they’ve won. Life’s too short, and who needs all that strife to bring us down?

Many of my words have been penned late into the evening, which explains why I’ve never viewed whatever television show you recommend to me. I would, however, love to hear your recommendations for a great read!
