While she struggles at the bottom of the magical learning curve, it becomes apparent that someone is stalking her.

Evangeline quickly learns two things about Gnome. The first is that anything is possible. The second is that magical creatures are much less enchanting when they want you dead.

Excerpt 1

Ben never showed as he had promised, and when I shifted in my sleep, I was apprehensive at the thought of facing the night alone.  As I flew past Daniel in the living room, I noticed a look of concern on his face, and the words “be careful” were stretched into a long, low mournful sound.
Once I hit the outskirts of the yard and had officially entered the woods, I had the strong sensation of being followed.  There were shadows slipping in and out of my peripheral vision, and birds and small animals burst out of their hiding places around me for no apparent reason.  I tried to outrun the feeling, but it stayed with me.
The moon above me was full, and I raced across a landscape of brightly contrasting moonlight and shadows.  I knew I was being followed by something Other, shrouded in the shadows of the trees, and I left the woods and bounded toward the meadow in hopes of losing it.  However, the sensation of being followed did not dissipate.  Rather, it seemed as if the Other merely took another form and took to the sky.  My eyes could not detect it, but I knew it with every ounce of my being, and my fur was crawling up my spine.
I crossed the meadow and entered another part of the woods.  My energy was waning, but I was afraid to turn back since I was certain that I was being followed.  I began to wonder if the Other following was my father.  I also wondered what happened to Ben to prevent him from coming.  While I was pondering all of these things and running blindly, another figure stepped directly into my path.
I skidded to an abrupt halt.  A shard of moonlight slashed through the trees and cast the figure half in light and half in shadow, and the half in light was definitely not human.  His skin was lumpy and blotchy.  His face was distorted like a hairless animal with black eyes deeply recessed in pits and a lipless grin that revealed an irregular row of jagged teeth.
I did not bother trying to read his aura.
Slowly and deliberately, the figure brought up his arm, and my fur stood up as I realized that he was holding a gun and about to shoot me.  With my heart pounding, I was trying to decide my next move when the shadow that had been following me came barreling over my head.  I saw nothing more than a black blur topped by a streak of gold as the Other launched into the other Other.  The arm holding the gun was thrust straight up, and the tree limbs exploded as the gun when off.  The two figures fell in a tangle, and both were soon swallowed in darkness.  I heard a series of growls, but I could see nothing.  I decided that right then was a good time to make a hasty exit while they were both distracted.
I raced back across the meadow toward familiar woods, but I must have veered too far left, for I once again found myself in the strange woods where I had been two night ago.  Recognizing the trees and the heaviness of the air, I tried to turn right to compensate for my error, but soon I was facing an unfamiliar stream that cut through the woods.  I approached the stream, which seemed clean and clear, and was taking a tentative sip when I heard a growl and realized I had company.
I looked up to find myself facing two other wolves.  Real wolves.  I had no idea we actually had wolves in Mississippi.  Their teeth were bared as they inched closer.
This so reminds me of high school, I thought, but the funny thought was of little comfort as they continued to close in on me.  I was considering making a break and running when I heard another growl coming up from behind me.
When I turned, I realized that not only was the third wolf baring his teeth at the first two, but he was so much bigger.  He stalked past me and put himself between me and the two wolves.  As I backed away, he charged across the stream.  All three wolves became entangled and rolled in a moment of snapping and growling, but the first two broke away and, quickly determining that they were overpowered, beat a retreat away from the stream.
The large wolf turned toward me, and I was poised to run again when I realized that he was less wolf than they were and more Other.  As he walked slowly toward me, he looked at me with eyes that seemed almost human in their expression, as if asking if I was okay.
Thanks.  I projected the thought toward him, but he gave no acknowledgment.
For a long moment, we stood contemplating each other.  Eventually, I gave up trying to communicate and turned to make my way back to the house.  It had been a long and tiring night, and I was already looking forward to the legendary bathtub and maybe even a light midnight snack before crawling back into bed.  I realized the Other wolf was following me, although he kept his distance and didn’t seem to pose a threat.  I stopped occasionally and turned to regard him, but he stood there, tongue hanging out, reminding me of those persistent guys with every lame pickup line you’ve ever heard—usually freshmen.  Just sayin’.
Look, thanks for saving me back there, but I’m just heading home now, okay?
He closed his mouth, and his eyes were wide and quizzical.
I turned back and continued trotting toward home with my new buddy close on my heels.  I climbed the porch steps, pawed open the door, and turned back to look at the wolf.  I hoped he didn’t expect me to invite him in.
For a moment, he watched me, and then he climbed the steps and walked over to a spot close to the door.  He circled and lay down, then looked back at me.  I could already imagine Daniel fussing about me bringing home a new pet.
What can I say?  I thought to myself.  He followed me home.  Can we keep it?

Emily Night grew up in a series of small towns in Mississippi. The youngest of four children, she dreamed of being a writer from the moment she wrote her first story in the fourth grade. At the age of twelve, she rode her bike up to the square of a small town and asked the editor to publish one of her stories. While the editor did not, he was very kind and encouraging. She graduated magna cum laude from Mississippi College and later obtained a Master's from Belhaven University. She prefers reading and writing fantasy because fantasy allows her to test the modern-day limits of what is possible.

Book Blast for A Wicked Desire by Kiersten Fay

A Wicked Desire
by Kiersten Fay

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Paranormal Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Having survived her terrible captivity by a sadistic doctor deep within an ancient mine, Cora returns home ready to move on with her life, but when Mason’s mysterious condition quickly deteriorates, Cora must embark on a quest for the one thing that could save his life.

When she is told Knox will accompany her, she fears she will not return alive. If Knox cannot control her, he might prefer her dead. Trusting him is a gamble she may never win…unless she can find other ways to tame the wild vampire.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Excerpt One:
Knox relaxed in the driver’s seat as he entered the highway.
She hadn’t asked nicely. She hadn’t asked at all. But then he hadn’t expected her to. Just the thought of being saddled with him as her escort had gotten her back up like he’d never seen. The disdain dripping from that last look before she had stomped upstairs to pack, grated. Why? Hell if he knew. He didn’t give a shit about what she thought of him. But it could have something to do with the fact that earlier she had been scanning him with open interest, with curiosity—maybe even with a little less fear and a little more respect than usual. Not that the former mattered much. Although, if he was going to get her in his bed, it might.
He had risked himself to help her. He should get points for that. Women loved that hero shit. Ate it up like motherfucking cake.
Unfortunately, he didn’t think she was allotting him the credit he deserved. Figures. His first selfless act in ages—well, mostly selfless—and she could only focus on the selfish part of it: that kiss.
He’d realized too late that she had manipulated him with that please-help-me-Knox and I-can-feel-your-fear garbage, and it drove him nuts that it had worked.
She’d scammed him. Got what she wanted without giving him a damn thing in return.
So he took a little something from her.
If she could really break through his blocks and see through the bond she wouldn’t have questioned the kiss…and even now she would be questioning his motives. Didn’t she wonder why he had capitulated so easily to joining her on this wild goose chase? The two of them, alone, for roughly eight days, no one to get in the way…
U.S. Art Supply 5.5" x 8.5" Premium Hardbound Sketch Book
My Son In Law loves to draw and paint and this is a great sketch pad for him. With it being hard bound he can take it on the go with him. He really likes that there are 80 sheets in this pad and that the paper is 70 pound. He likes to sketch when they go some place and he sees something really nice like a sun set over the water or things along those lines. The wire binding on it makes it easy as well for on the go because the glue bound pads tend to give out and let the pages fall out. This one he will not have to worry about that.
We have other products from US Art Supply and they have all been fantastic. Their quality is top notch. This pad is no different. The quality is amazing.
  I received this product free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
GENRE: Chick-lit, bittersweet romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Adam Donatello and Nina Morales share an immediate and powerful attraction, and their future together seems assured. But love is difficult enough without adding complications – real or imagined – to the mix. Nina sees life as a thousand shades of gray, while Adam tends towards black-and-white. He wants to move fast; she needs time. Nina sees her past liaisons with women as immaterial to their relationship, while her disclosure drives Adam to a state of irrational jealousy. He doesn't know how he could compete with a woman; and his suspicions – which Nina views as hypocritical – lead them both to make decisions they may live to regret.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
EXCERPT:
“I can’t believe they’re actually paying me to do this,” said Nina.
She had just come home after completing her first after-school program.
“I guess that means you liked it,” I said.
“I absolutely loved it. The kids are great. Monica is someone I can learn from. And I feel like the students really responded to me.”
“I’m sure they did. The girls all want to be like you and the boys all want to be with you.”
Nina froze in place and glared at me. “Do you always have to be so damn cynical and crass!”
“I was just joking around.”
“Well, why do you have to joke around so much? And why do your stupid jokes always have to be at someone else’s expense? It gets old, Adam. Very old, very fast.”
“Whoa, Nina. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean anything by it.”
“You never mean anything.” She turned away and then turned back to stare me down. “Everything’s always a joke. But this is important to me. It’s the first time I’ve actually gotten paid for using my art skills. It’s exciting and I don’t need you to try and drag me down.”
Nina stomped off to the bedroom to change and shut the door. I was left alone in the living room with a half-empty Corona and a head full of whirling doubt and confusion. Part of me knew she was right. I did tend to joke about everything and my attempts at humor could sometimes be hurtful. I’d heard all that before. A million times. From my parents, teachers, friends, and colleagues. Nina was also right that I “never meant anything by it.” And, even though she hadn’t said it outright, it was also true that I often found my humor far more amusing than anyone else.
Excerpt 1:
Twenty-four hours. One big house and two hot men. No big deal.
I shrugged off Michael's jacket and stole a glimpse of his zipper region. If the rumors were true, those were no rolled up socks in there.
I sucked in air and handed him the jacket. "Thanks again."
He turned to find a coat hanger, while Cal took my arm to guide me into a hall.
We stopped at the threshold. Tall candles in holders provided the only illumination, shining light onto a thirty foot table.
That sure looked like a date to me.
Three sets of plates and silverware were already laid out at one end of the table, with bowls of steaming veg and meat in the center. Wow, the smell was fantastic. Like rich gravy and sweet carrots and home.
But then, I was starved. The only food I'd had all day were two bottles of wine, and some might argue that wine wasn't food at all.
"Guess we're overdressed, huh?" I pointed at the posh red wallpaper and high ceilings, the humongous fireplace in which a fire crackled, and the sumptuous chairs.
Cal glanced down at his black shirt, top buttons open, and his tight leather pants.
Crap. Another sock-like bulge.
"Maybe we should take our clothes off." He grinned. "There's no rule about having dessert first."
I sucked in a jagged breath, but rolled my eyes to overplay the rising dampness in my panties. "Please. You should have more control than that."
Michael stepped up and offered me his arm on my left.
I hooked in, perhaps clinging a little too tight, but he didn't complain.
In fact, he didn't seem like a complicated guy at all.
Callister was the drama queen in that pairing. I didn't have to glance over my shoulder to know his bottom lip was pushed out like a toddler's being denied its toy.
Except I wasn't his toy.
Why was it so difficult to keep a cool head? The sec I laid eyes on them, a switch inside me flicked. Some inexplicable compulsion drove me to stay by their sides.
Or more likely, good old-fashioned lust.
I may not have a type, but these two were definitely it.
Atalanta® Color Liquid Chalk Marker Pens-8
I love chalk markers and have used several different brands, as well as several different tip sizes. This is my first go round with Atlanta Tech and with fine tip chalk markers as well. I am very happy to say that I love both.  The fine tip on these markers has opened me to a whole new world of chalk markers, now I can do fine work as well as large pictures or writing. I also love the quality of these markers Atlanta Tech has made a great product and has taken the time to ensure the quality of these markers. They write very smoothly and there really is quite a bit of ink in the markers.
