The Alex Chronicles: What My Friends Don't Know
by Tracy Reed

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
GENRE: Contemporary Romance
~~~~~~~~~~~~~

BLURB:

Alexandra “Alex” Miller and her best friends are more like sisters.  They live by the code that a good girlfriend will stick by you and be honest with you not matter what.

They’ve been friends over twenty years and have seen each other through marriage, divorce, broken engagement, death and other minor crisis.  But it’s the secrets they’ve failed to trust each other with.   Each of them is holding on to a secret they believe could destroy not only their reputation, but their friendship as well.

Alex and her best friends, Chloe, Taylor, Kendell and Dionne all long for one thing, a happy ending.  As they’ve gotten older, they’ve discovered, not everyone gets the fairytale happy ending they want, but the reality life has orchestrated for them.

Excerpt Two:

I couldn’t move. That was the most uncomfortable experience I’ve ever had, much worse than my first pelvic exam.  In fact, right about now, those stirrups are looking pretty good, because that would distract me from all the memories that brief encounter resurrected.  It’s been over twenty years and he still makes my stomach jump.

“Who was that man?”  Bas asked.

I couldn’t dance around his question like I did last night. “Uhm...did I ever tell you how I got the money to start my business?”

“Does it have anything to do with the couple we just met?”

“It has everything to do with them.”  I took a deep breath and continued.  “My girlfriends know about Jonathan, but only a handful of people know about Terrence.”

“Come on, let’s sit down.”  He guided me back to the club chairs, we sat down and I stared out the window.

“I spent the summer before my junior year and my junior year of college working at Motif Magazine in Paris.  The short version, Terrence and I met at the Louvre.  We were both trying to see the Mona Lisa.  Unfortunately, so was everyone else.  Instead, we spent the afternoon exploring the museum and by closing time, we were in love.  He was in Paris working for his father’s company.”

“That’s your ex?”

“Have you ever wondered if it’s possible to be married and no one know?”  He looked perplexed.  “Let me answer it for you.  Yes.”

“Excuse me?”

“Towards the end of summer we were hooked at the hip.  We spent all of our free time together.  Instead of going home for the holidays, I stayed in Paris and spent them with Terrence.  Spring came and the air was filled with love.   He proposed and two weeks after Valentine’s Day we got married.  When his parents found out, they came over and yanked him out of our apartment.  The last time I saw him was that morning.”

AUTHOR Bio and Links:

I am a single Christian woman who loves God, Fashion and Cute Guys. Not all women who write Christian fiction will admit to that.

The subjects I write about are considered taboo in Christian fiction. If you want to read about Christians dealing with unrequited love, apprehension to give love another chance, arranged marriages, physical attraction, divorce, annulment, controlling their urges, infidelity, abortion, dating younger men, being a single mother, slipping up and sleeping with your estranged ex, standing up for yourself, being honest about not liking your in-laws, still being attracted to your ex, battling postpartum depression, having challenges in your walk with Christ or if you aren't too proud to admit you sometimes get angry and yell at God, then you're in the right place.

The people that read my books have a thing for designer clothes and accessories and aren't ashamed to admit it. To them a cute Christian guy on their arm is the finish to the perfect outfit. Sort of like lipstick, you don't have to have it, but it sure makes you feel prettier when you do.

 Interview with Tracy Reed

 As a kid did you write or make up stories?
Yes, I did write stories, they weren’t that good, but they were good first attempt at writing.

Where does most of your Character inspiration come from?
I don’t have a particular source for my character inspiration.  I draw from a pool of resources.  Someone might tell me a story or I'll see something in a magazine or while I’m out shopping or eating that grabs my attention.  If the idea sticks, I’ll kick it around in my mind.  Sometimes it gnaws at me and if it does, then I’ll try bringing it to life.

Do some qualities of your characters come from real people?
Most definitely.  I make it a point to build realistic character traits into all of my characters.  I want the reader to feel as if they are talking to or peeking in on one of their friends.

What was the inspiration for your book?
The inspiration for What My Friends Don’t Know, came because I wanted it to be sort of like Sex and the City, for Christians.  I also, wanted to show people that Christians aren’t that much different from anyone else, when it comes to fashion, romance and their career choices.  Unfortunately, there’s a stereotype about Christians or people that love God, that they don’t care about fashion or being attracted to the opposite sex.  The reality is, people who love God, also have the same romantic challenges, appreciation for fashion, fine dining and the other finer things in life.

What is your favorite spot to write?
My favorite place to write is my bed.  Unfortunately, my laptop died and I’ve been stuck at a desk.  I hope to get a new laptop this year so I can go back to writing in my bed.

What advice would you give budding writers?
What advice would I give budding writers…good question.  My advice is, write the book.  Don't worry if it’s good or not, just write it.  Next, don’t over think every little typo or missed grammatical error.  Then, I highly suggest linking up with some sort of writing organization.  I’m a member of RWA and it has been a tremendous resource for both information, friends and motivation.  Lastly, read whatever you like…it’s the best way to improve your writing.

HUA Mosquito & Fly Repellent Lncense-30 Scented Sticks

I would get these during the short lived winter time in Florida. There are mosquitoes year round here in Florida though, but I haven't been spending lots of time outside. Although We did have dinner on the back porch just to light one of these incense sticks. There were very few mosquitoes out at the time but we neither one were having to swat at any at all. So I guess they do work.
They have a citronella/bug spray scent to them. The smell really isn't that bad. They burn a long time. We were outside probably about 30 to 45 minutes and I out the stick out when we went inside. There was still probably an inch or so left. I did bring it back in and put it in a small zip top bag to save for the next time we go out.

I received this product free in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.

18-inch Champion Tournament Bristle Dartboard by Ohuhu

My husband and some friends enjoy playing darts. We have a nice cabinet on our back porch and our throw line is painted on the floor. Our board is several years old and all though it still has some life left it in I decided to go with trying a new board. This one by Ohuhu is a great board. I am very happy with this board and so is my husband. The day it arrived he went out and changed the boards out. Then immediately stated throwing daarts at it to test it. He came back in and told me I had chosen wisely.
  We have since played with friends and they all enjoyed using our new board. The darts stick very well into the board instead of falling out. If yu toss weakly they may fall out but that will happen with any board.
   This board is 2 sided. classic target on one side, and tournament on the other. We play with the tournament side. We have a fe different set of darts all in different weights. My lighter darts stick just as well as my husbands heavier darts.
   The box does say there are darts included but there are none in the box. Which really isn't a bad thing n our case, they probably would just be tossed out anyway, since we have our own sets. But It could be upsetting if someone thought they were getting a ready to play set.

Silicone Stretch Lids (7 pack, includes EXCLUSIVE XL SIZE) by ModFamily

I have several serving bowls that do not have lids. Some even have fancy and scalloped edges and no lids will fit them, except these silicone stretch lids. The lids put a nice seal on my bowls and keep my food fresher longer.
  I love that there are 7 lids in this set. They go from 3.7 inches to 9.2 inches. These are very stretchy and the smallest 3.2 inch lid will stretch and cover a 5 inch bowl. so yep it almost doubles in size. These lids are round but I put them on a square bowl with no problem at all. I love being able to stretch these over a dinner plate for when my Daughter gets home from work late. These will also fit over the end of fruits like pineapples and all types of melons.
  These lids can be put in the dishwasher but they are really easy to hand wash. They are made of silicone so they are non stick.

Cancelled Vows

By Lauren Carr

Book Tour Interview One - Writing Ritual

1)      Do you write every day?

Yes, I do.  I always manage to squeeze in at least a couple of hours to work on a book. If I don’t have time to write during the actual day, I will write in the evening, after getting everything else that needs completed done.

2)      What is writing schedule?

My dogs get me up at six o’clock in the morning. After a half hour of feeding them and brewing coffee, then I’ll sit in bed with my husband, drinking coffee and “take care of business.” It’s not as naughty as it sounds. We go over my sales figures, etc.

Then, I will move onto social media. But I’m not playing on social media. I’ll spend a couple of hours retweeting posts from members in my retweet groups, checking out new followers, answering e-mails.

It is usually about eleven o’clock before I can sit down to start writing.

3)      Not only are you a best-selling author, but you are also a wife, mother to a teenager, and you have four dogs. Wow. How do you balance your time?

I don’t. If I didn’t have my husband, nothing would get done. He does the errands and grocery shopping, so that I am able to stay home.  The important thing is keeping on a schedule and planning out what deadlines have to be met. I’ll admit that half the time I don’t meet a deadline, but the important ones—like interviews—I do meet.

4)      Where do you write?

I have a writer’s studio on the top floor of my home.  It is my space. No one is allowed in it because in my studio—I am completely me—the good-the bad—the messy.

Translation: When I write, I only write. That means I don’t pay attention to dust on my desk or the ringing of the phone. My husband is a former navy officer who sees every speck of dust. So he’s not allowed to enter my studio—because then he would have a stroke and I’d have no one to go out to get food.

5)      Is there a specific ritualistic thing you do during your writing time?

I wouldn’t call it ritualistic, but I do have a tendency to get lost in my book when writing. I mean I can even lose sense of time.

The other day I was working away on my next Lovers in Crime Mystery, Killer in the Band. I lead a book club at our church. Suddenly, I saw that the time was 6:35 pm. The meeting at the church started at 7 pm. I wasn’t dressed. I hadn’t thawed anything for dinner. The dogs weren’t fed.

I made the meeting. Luckily, the members never realized I was in my pajamas under that coat. If they did, they didn’t say anything. My family ate dry take-out chicken for dinner.

6)      In today’s tech savvy world, most writers use a computer or laptop. Have you ever written parts of your book on paper?

Back in the nineties, before laptops, I would write outlines for my books on yellow notepaper. Rarely would I refer to them. The writing of the outline helped me to sort out the plot in my own mind.

Actually, you would be surprised by how many writers do write in longhand. I once took at survey of the students in a writing class I taught. Half of the students write in long-hand. I have a niece who wants to be a writer. She’s in her twenties and she writes in long-hand.

Me—my handwriting is so bad no one would be able to read it if I wrote in longhand.

7)      What project are you working on now?

Right now I’m working on Killer in the Band, the Lovers in Crime mystery coming out at the end of April, readers will get to know more about Joshua Thornton Jr (J.J.), Murphy’s identical twin brother. J.J. has graduated at the top of his class from law school and is returning home to spend the summer studying for the bar exam. However, to the Thornton’s shock and dismay, J.J. decides to move in with Suellen Russell, a lovely widow twice his age. The move brings long buried tensions between the father and son to the surface. When a brutal killer strikes, the father and son must set all differences aside to solve the crime before J.J. ends up in the crosshairs of a murderer.

PJ 19" Cotton Canvas Duffle Bag

  This is a really nice duffle bag. There is plenty oof rom for everything you need for a work out at the gym, or to use it as a overnight bag. It is fully machine washable. It has a very strong zipper. The Duffel bag is made out of very sturdy canvas and should be good to go for years to come.
  I don't personally go to the gym but I do go on a lot of weekend getaways with my husband and always need bags for packing out clothing in. This will be great for taking our clean clothing in or for storing our dirty clothing on the way home. It is also a great bag to add to a suit case for bringing home souvenirs, or for using to pack our toiletries in. Also I have Grand Kids who love to stay the night with Nana this will be great for packing their clothing. Also we like to take the kids on day trips and outings. This bag will be great for packing diapers, sippy cups, changes of clothing, toys, and all other goodies small kids need,
  The bag is very light to carry but strong and sturdy. The handles are also great. They stitching on the whole bag is very nicely done. You can just feel the quality of this duffel bag the second you touch it.

109 Piece Mega St Patrick's Day Toy Novelty Assortment

   Awesome novelty set for St. Patrick's Day. There are 12 necklaces, 24 bracelets, 72 temporary tattoos. and 1 balloon. This is perfect for  party with 12 people.
  The necklaces are made like Mardi Gras beads, except they have little shamrocks instead of round beads. The beads are a metallic dark green. They are on strong cording.  The beds do not rotate around the string they are stuck in place.
  The bracelets are made of rubber with shamrock cut outs all the way around. They stretch some and will fit adults. They are also dark green. They really are pretty cute.
   The tattoos come in small packages of 6 different tattoos. There are 12 small packages. The tattoos are really cute. All 6 are of shamrocks, but they are different designs.
    There is a single 9 inch balloon. It is also green and says Happy St. Patrick's Day, written in white. Not sure why they only put 1 balloon, but I assume it is to be used as a centerpiece.
    This set and some green beer is all you need for a fun St. Patrick's Day celebration.
