The Funeral Murder by Nancy Lynn Jarvis

In The Glass House, the first book in the PIP Inc. Mysteries series Pat Pirard, recently downsized Santa Cruz Law Librarian, needed to find a new job in a hurry. She printed business cards announcing she was Private Investigator Pat and crossed her fingers, hoping she could earn enough money working for attorneys as a PI to survive.

Pat’s first investigation went well, so she’s excited when she gets a call from an estate attorney who offers her a second job. The attorney tells Pat his client died at a funeral and he needs help sorting out who is entitled to inherit her estate.

Pat quickly discovers the dead woman’s past is as complicated as her estate. And when an autopsy indicates she had two deadly toxins in her body when she died, Pat’s new case becomes not only complicated, but dangerous.

Nancy Lynn Jarvis left the real estate profession after she started having so much fun writing the Regan McHenry Real Estate Mysteries series that she let her license lapse. She’s enjoyed writing about Regan and her husband, Tom, but decided it was time to do a new series.

PIP Inc. introduces protagonist downsized law librarian and not-quite-licensed Private Investigator Pat Pirard. “The Funeral Murder” is the second book in the series.

After earning a BA in behavioral science from San Jose State University, Nancy worked in the advertising department of the San Jose Mercury News. A move to Santa Cruz meant a new job as a librarian and later a stint as the business manager for Shakespeare/Santa Cruz at UCSC.

Currently she’s enjoying being a member of Mystery Writers of America, Sisters in Crime, and Santa Cruz Women of Mystery.

Snippet 2

“Syda, I think your book needs a zombie or two in it,” Pat said cheerfully when Syda answered.
“A zombie?” Syda said skeptically before she put two positives together to reach a negative. “Yeah. right. You do remember the book I’m working on is a noir murder mystery featuring a dashing and adventurous, but classic private investigator, don’t you?”
“I do. Your detective definitely needs to investigate a zombie, maybe a Caribbean one created during a voodoo ceremony.”
“Okay,” Syda groaned. “What’s this about, BFF?”
“The inheritance case I’m working on for Roger Drago―the funeral death one―has become a funeral murder case.”

The Eulogimenoi Series by Maria Vermisoglou

Beware the Violet
The Eulogimenoi Series Book 1
by Maria Vermisoglou
Genre: YA Fantasy

Discovering supernatural creatures are real is one thing but learning I have powers and learning to use them is quite a feat.
My name is Violet Webb. I live in a small town that nearly worships Halloween but I hate it. I can't wait until I graduate and get as far as I can from that silliness.

Everything changed when I followed the white rabbit. I ended up in a Realm full of vampires, fairies, witches and every creature possible.

Oh, Did I mention Jacques?
The hot shapeshifter with the French accent that makes me see rabbits everywhere?

Now what?
Some bloody lady of Fate gave me a prophecy to get home. The only problem is that I must defeat the darkness before it swallows both of our worlds.

Can I go through without making the ultimate sacrifice?

The Shifter's Revenge
The Eulogimenoi Series Book 2

The stakes are higher than ever...

As I recover from my last trial where I was confronted by the darkest creatures in history, I hoped things would return to my normal, peaceful life. Not a chance. With my return to Oklealia academy and the arrival of a new headmistress whose inhuman ways turn the academy into a jail, my plate is full enough, but signs of an upcoming threat awaken my fears once more.

Time is running out— for me and the world. When the final battle arrives, will I make the right choice?

Father Dearest
The Eulogimenoi Series Book 2.5

Spring Break is supposed to be a time of fun and new beginnings.

After defeating the Darkness, Violet and I thought we could just spend some time together and revel in our relationship with our friends in the Blessed Realm.
But just when you think the past is firmly locked away does it rear its ugly head.
A figure from my past comes back with a message, putting Violet’s life at risk.

Will I be able to protect my girl, along with the realm that I call home? Or will blood prove to my undoing?

Read an Excerpt from Christmas Romeo:

My gaze shifted to the conference room doorway where our office Romeo, aka Richard Stokes, stood. A carefree grin shaped his mouth, one which accompanied his breezy walk as he acknowledged our co-workers he passed with a cheerful “good morning.”

Romeo infuriated me every time I saw him. Every. Single. Time.

“Well-well-well, look who’s here.” With a nod in his direction, I snorted a “humpf.”

“Oh. Him. Finally, Romeo graces us with his presence.” Crossing her arms over her chest, Melanie, my cube mate, dropped her chin and nearly spat with disgust.

“Could anyone look any more repulsive?” I slid my mouth sideways.

“He doesn’t appear one bit fazed by his appearance, Julianne.”

“His clothes are always-always-always rumpled. And does he ever comb his hair? I know rules are different about employee dress in today’s work environment, but I don’t like his style. He looks like a teenager.” I slammed my fist into my palm. “Professionalism, dammit.”

Garnish with a Candy Cane by Nikki Belaire

Title: Garnish with a Candy Cane
Author: Nikki Belaire
Genre: Christmas Mafia Novella
Release Date: November 1, 2020

Deals made when you're drunk don't count, right?

Wrong. At least according to mob boss Duke Toscani. Our alcohol-induced agreement is simple – He's mine and I'm his.

What he doesn't realize though is I'm a package deal. My grandmother took care of me when I was orphaned, and now it's my turn to take care of her. Even if I have to work three jobs and skip a few meals and good nights' sleep to do it. She may believe in Christmas miracles, but I'll need a lot more than Santa's elves to save me from the man on the very top of the naughty list.

Author’s note: Garnish with a Candy Cane is fun, funny, and completely safe, if not totally sane standalone novella. Celebrate the holiday season with a guaranteed happily ever after romance.

My good mood instantly dissipates when I enter the building. Some asshole leans too damn close to Noelle, staring at her instead of the monitor as she points out something on her screen.

I’m not into men but even I know he’s attractive. Tall and tatted with that silver fox, daddy vibe going on that girls like, especially ones who have lost their parents and need someone to take care of them. Like this bastard seems to have figured out with Noelle. Motherfucker wants my Duchess. “Don’t think I won’t kill you if you don’t get the fuck away from her.”

I thrive on the terror blanching his face from my threat, and he jerks back from the counter, and most importantly, from my girl. Who unsurprisingly shoots up from her chair, horror bursting on her face from my fury.

“Whoa.” His palms fly up in quick surrender. He’s a pansy ass coward, but at least smart enough not to challenge me. “I just wanted to order–”

“I don’t give a fuck what you wanted. Leave or die, your choice.”

With fear rolling through his body, he shakes his head and hustles past me. Two seconds later the bell jingles before the door slams shut. Her gaze follows his path until slowly returning her huge eyes to meet mine.

“What in the world are you doing?”

She sounds absurdly shocked. As if she doesn’t understand what happened. As if she doesn’t realize what’s happening between us. “He was ogling you.”

“He was ordering a cake for his work!”

I stare at her in awe when I realize she genuinely believes the bullshit she’s spouting to me. I love my sweet naïve Duchess. She really has no idea how fucking magnificent she is. “Bullshit. No man orders a cake for his work.”

All rowdy with her little fists on her hips as she stares up at me. I like when she challenges me.

“You don’t know that.”

“I do know that. Men do everything for two reasons – money or women. He was pretending to care about icing flavors when he really wanted to devour you. When I walked in here, he was looking down your dress instead of at the pictures on your computer. He didn’t give a fuck about getting anything but you.”

Her head falls forward studying her neckline before her trembling hand pushes the gaping material flat against her chest. Shame floods her expression when she looks up again with the realization he could see the curves of her luscious tits peeking out of her bra. She stares at me, examining me to search for honesty or insanity or rationality. Finding all three, she shakes her head. “You are unbelievable.”
