What's Wrong? On The Move by Catherine Veitch

3*
This is a cute book for kids but it is not a fun book. There are 5 spot the mistakes on each page but the book is cartoonish so it is hard to tell exactly what the author is referring to as a mistake. There are a couple  of hints on each page. There is really no story or adventure. The book has 9 full spread pages, each featuring a different part of a town. Like the airport, the ski slopes, the park and more. That are filled with brightly colored illustrations. At the back of the boo are the answers and some facts about why each object is wrong. The book is cute for the kids, but I prefer a book that is more educational or with a story attached.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.

Anne Frank by Isabel Sanchez Vegara

Anne Frank is another book in the Little People, Big Dreams series. This series focuses on Women in History on the younger child's level. This book however was not my favorite in the series. The horror's that Anne Frank as well as all of the Jewish people went through during the Holocaust was actually skimmed over. The book did not exactly make it sound like a day at the park but it did sugar coat it I guess is the words I would use. Anne Frank and her plight should be added to the series as she is a woman in history but I do think a bit more emphasis should of been put on what actually happened during that horrific period in history. I do understand that this series of books is not meant to scare the children in any way so maybe it should of just been left out of the series. I am really not sure.

This is a wonderful series though and I do think that all girls and boys even should have a chance to read these amazing books.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.

Mother Teresa by Isabel Sanchez Vegara

I have had the opportunity to read several of the books from the Little People, Big Dreams series. I am very excited about this series. It focuses on Moral Figures in our history and teaches it to the younger children in our lives on their level. And to top it off this series unlike many other actually focus on Women. I love how these books show young girls who read them that they can be and do anything they set their mind to.

This book is about Mother Teresa and all of the great things she done in her life and that are still being carried on after her death. I actually learned a few things about Mother Teresa from this book as well.

These are shirt books but are packed with a lot of information. At the back of the book there is also section of pictures from Mother Teresa's life. So the Children get to see real photo's of the person they read about.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com and chose to leave this review.

WHERE WISHES GROW by Chris Sarracini

WHERE WISHES GROW by Chris Sarracini, Children, 56 pp., $18.99 (paperback)

Title: WHERE WISHES GROW

Author: Chris Sarracini

Publisher: Brownridge Publishing

Pages: 56

Genre: Children’s Picture Book

Where Wishes Grow… is the story of eight-year-old Maggie, a
pensive and courageous dreamer, whose big heart starts to break when her
grandmother becomes bedridden and sick with no recovery in sight.
Fortunately Maggie has some wishes in mind to breathe life into Nana and
is about to learn the secret for making them come true.

Watching Nana’s health fail has been difficult for Maggie and so now
much of her time is spent dreaming up wishes for ways she can help her.
Maggie conjures up three wishes for Nana she desperately wants to come
true: for Nana to see again to enjoy her favorite beautiful things, for
her to walk again to visit her favorite places, and for her to speak
again so that she and Maggie can sing their favorite songs. The problem
is, with wishes this important, Maggie wants to be sure she can realize
them; wishing upon stars that may be long dead or relying on birthday
candle hoopla just won’t cut it. Thankfully, Maggie’s mother knows the
secret for turning wishes into reality…you’ve got to write each wish
down and then go plant each one in just the right place. And, as Maggie
discovers, retelling the story of how each wish was planted turns out to
be the most magical part.

My Review: 5*

What a sweet book. Maggie's Nana has a brain hurt and can no longer see, walk or talk. Maggie wanted to make wishes to give Nana back all the colors, the music, and everything else she was now missing. Her Mother comes up with a plan for Maggie to to plant the wishes and let them grow. Each day she send Maggie to a specific place to plant the wish, then come home and tell her all about everything. This brings a smile to not on Maggie and Mothers face  but to Nana's as well.

I have to admit this book brought a tear to my eye, I am dealing with a mother with dementia, and I try daily to give her things she is missing from her life. Chris Sarracini has done an amazing job with this book. The story is filled with love and compassion. I think this book would be great to read to even smaller children, children probably around the age of 8 and above would be able to read th book very easily.

The book is illustrated by Pauline Aksay. Each page is a full page illustration with the story over the pictures. These are drawn pictures more like watercolors. Each page is expressive and tells a lot of the story just by looking at the illustrations.

Chris Sarracini has been working in the comic book and film
industries for over 15 years. In addition to writing for a number of
successful comic book favorites including TRANSFORMERS, STREET FIGHTER
and DARK MINDS, his own creations include FATE OF THE BLADE and CASA
NOSTRA. As a screenwriter, he has worked with Universal Pictures, Disney
and Nasser Entertainment. His most recent publication is the children’s
picture book WHERE WISHES GROW…

Lala
wakes up and feels rotten, but she's not sure why. She's not sick, and the sun
is shining. Lala is blah-la.

She
stomps downstairs for breakfast.

Stomp,
stomp, stomp.

My Review:
5*
Lala wakes up in a  bad mood. She doesn't know why. Her mother is determined to turn her Blah day into a good day. She starts with a happy breakfast then moves on to a happy lunch. When neither work she comes up with a plan to flip an imaginary coin. Tails is a blah day, she tells Lala to flip the coin over in her mind to heads.

This was a very short story and would be perfect for a Blah-la day for any child in the morning when it is looking like a bad day. Teia Kayne has done a wonderful job with this book, it even brought a smile to my face. This is a picture book with vivid and bright illustrations all the way through it. The illustrations are by Goran Vitanovic.

As the daughter of a librarian, Tela Kayne grew up reading countless
literary works of all genres in quiet corners of the local library. She
developed the love of writing at an early age, penning theatrical

Ranger Rick Kids' Guide to Hiking by Helen Olsson

Ranger Rick Kids' Guide to Hiking by Helen Olsson is a have to have book if you are going hiking. The book is written for kids 8+ but if you have never been hiking it would be good for adults as well. The book tells you where to go , when to go, what to take with you and more.

There are lots of illustrations throughout the book to make the book even more enjoyable. And of Course Ranger Rick is on almost every page. He is an adorable raccoon. The book is written in easy to understand language, and filled with tips, ideas, and even some hiking rules.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Outside: Discovering Animals Maria Ana Peixe Dias, Ines Teixeira do Rosario

Very informative book written on a childs level about following the signs to learn about the animals around us. The books focuses on 100 animal species and how to tell if they live around where you are.  Now personally I would gibe this book to a child say 8 years and up but I would not send them out into the weeds and woods on their own. Some of these animals will hurt the kids if they happened across them. I do appreciate that the book tells you to just look and do not touch.

The book is very interesting. It give tons of facts on the animals featured. Like with Worms for instance. The book explains how they move with no legs. Do they have noses, hearts, lungs? What do they eat? What eats them? Where they live and how they live. All of this and more in 4 short pages.

I really like the illustrations. Some are cartoonish others give you a good look at the animal. The whole book is done in black, white, and hot pink. They really catch your eye.

Amazing World: Bugs by L.J. Tracosas

Most kids are curious about everything around us. This set of Amazing World books are great. In this book about Bugs, you and your child will learn about 20 different bugs. Some of the bugs are every day and ordinary some are wild, strange, and anything but ordinary. While reading this book I learned of a few bugs I have never heard of.

The book has large color pictures of each bug so you can actually see what the bug looks like. It also tells you where and how the bug lives, eats, and survives. Which ones bite or sting as well. The pages about each bug may be short but there are tons of facts about the bug. It also tells you the different types of bugs in each bug family, and their differences.

The book is very interesting even to us adults. If you buy the paper book instead of the ebook it also comes with 13 reusable glow-in-the-dark plastic stickers.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Foam Crafts for Kids by Suzanne McNeil

Summer is here and the kids are out of school. Mine are running around yelling I'm bored, a lot!! Foam Craft for kids features over 100 projects for the kids to make. Foam sheets are available in so many different stores and they are cheap. Our Dollar tree even sells them by the packs of several sheets as well as stickers and shapes.  This book is great for kids of all ages and even us adults can have fun with this book.

The thing I really like about this book is is get the imagination flowing and the kids can create these projects their way and also come up with some new projects on their own. Who knew few foam sheets and bottle of glue could save Mom's sanity?

Pluto Is Peeved! by Jacqueline Jules

Pluto is Peeved is a cute comic book style picture book. Pluto used to be the 9th Planet in our Solar System but has been demoted and he wants to know why. Pluto takes a trip through the museum to find out why he was demoted. On his journey he meets other exhibits from the largest to the smallest to find out why he was demoted. What he does learn is what all Scientists are interested in and learns that he himself is just one of those things.

Cute interesting and educational book. The book has really great comic book style illustrations. At the back of the book there is an Authors note as well as the reason Pluto is no longer our 9th planet. As well as answers to some some of the questions brought p by the other exhibits in the book like dinosaurs and germs. There is also a glossary, further reading and websites to go along with the science brought up in the book.

Power to the Princess by Vita Weinstein Murrow

This is a anthology of 15 fair tails rewritten for today's girls. The stories are retold with Girl Power!!!
In this version Sleeping Beauty is a specialist on sleeping disorders, Rapunzel is a world-famous architect, The Little Mermaid is a advocate for peace between mer-people and humans, and all the other favorites are here to in their new jobs.

The kids and I enjoyed the new versions of the old tales. The book focuses on building up girls instead of leaving them locked in a  tower and a man coming long and rescuing them. The new Princesses in this book seeks to help others, is open to learning new things, and looks for ways to add purpose to their lives and the lives of those around them.

This book is written very well and teaches girls they can be and do anything.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Rusty The Squeaky by Robot Neil Clark

Poor little Rusty the Squeaky Robot. Rust is very sad. With every move he makes he squeaks. The other robots try to show Rusty how being different is good. All of the robots make a song using their own unique noise as the music to show the good thing about being different.

This was a great book. The kids and I both loved the colorful illustrations. I loved that this book is educational in it teaches that being different is perfectly all right and actually the best way to be.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Bug Lab for Kids by John W. Guyton

Kids are curious. Most kids will at some point be curious about bugs as well. And if your child is scared of bugs this book just may help them turn curious also.

Did you know 95% of the worlds animals are actually bugs. In this book Mississippi State University associate professor, extension entomologist (bug expert), and educator John W. Guyton team up to teach you and your child all things bug.

There are so many illustrations, photos, activities and facts about Bugs in this book it could turn anyone into a bug expert on a childs level.  This is not some cutesy story it is true facts. The book teaches you how to dress to find and collect bugs. It teaches safety while finding and collecting, which is very important when dealing with bugs.

The book is broken down into chapters. It has the bugs put into type, it has science projects, t has collection tips and so much more. Great book for kids of all ages.

50 Wacky Things Pets Do by Heidi Fiedler

This is an adorable but educational book for the little ones who love animals, or if you are tying to decide on a pet. The book features 50 different things pets do. All of them are something strange, funny, or in some cases yucky habits for each pet. You also get a short More about section on each pet. There really cute and colorful illustrations for each pet featured throughout the book.

The kids loved looking at the pictures, and learning about why I dog has the habit of eating the car poop, and why the dogs sniff butts. They have also decided we need about a half dozen more pets from looking through this book.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Get Smarter: Super Fun Travel Activities to Baffle Your Brain MoonDance Press Creative Team

Have you ever loaded the family into the car to go on a day trip, to go shopping, or to go on vacation? Have you ever heard are we there yet over and over until you wanted to pull over and walk the rest of the way? When my kids were small it never filed 5 minute after getting in the car they were bored and either picking on each other or us.

This book would of saved me a few gray hairs from come trips. It is filled with fun games to keep the kids busy while riding in the car. There are word puzzles, coloring pages, scavenger hunts and more. I like the fact that instead of handing the book to the kids I can print the pages out and hand them one sheet at a time so the book never ends.

The games are for kids of all ages but some are more geared towards I would say 8 to 10 year olds, like the crossword puzzles. /younger kids can have fun too there are coloring pages and my favorite is the draw your own billboard. I like that I can turn this into an educational ride as well. We can discuss the billboards we see then hand them the page and then they can work on making their own. This is great for a break from Are We There Yet!!

Adults Passengers on long car rides can have fun with this book too!!

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

Astromouse by Steve Smallman

Astromouse is a cute book. It is only 13 pages long so would make a great bedtime story for the little ones. Steve Smallman has done a great job with the story. The illustrations throughout the book are great as well and really catches the kids attention as well as telling the story in ictures.

In the book we meet Pip. Pip is a mouse. On the night of a full moon Pip questions Mother Mouse about the moon and decides he want to go to the moon to live. I mean after all it is made of Stinky Cheese. The next day Pip makes himself a space ship to fly to the moon in. The ship crashes but Pip sees the moon in the pond. He just knows the moon has come to visit him, since he cannot get to the moon.

At the end of the book their are some discussion questions you can talk to with your ids about the book.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

National Parks of the USA by Kate Siber

Even though this book is directed at children I personally enjoyed it myself and learned a few things.

I love going to National Parks. I am a huge history buff, and many of the parks feature historical buildings and stuff. A National park is not just a playground and picnic area, like most community parks. National Parks are a great way to learn about history, battlefields, as well as wildlife and plant life of the area.

This book shows you by region some of the National Parks, it also give you tidbits about what you will or possibly could see while visiting the park.

The book is illustrated all the way through ad kids from probably 7 to 10 would enjoy this book, and could use as a guide book while visiting the National Parks listed.

I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.

My review:
5*
Patty Costello has come up with acute story for kids. From small Children to about the age of 8 would enjoy this story. The words used are easy to semi easy so would be great for young readers. Diane Cojocaru has done an awesome job with illustrations. They are vibrant and bright and very engaging to the kids. Our youngest child enjoyed flipping through the pages, even after we read the book.

This is a cute story for kids. The King doesn't like the people outside of his Kingdom and decides that to build a wall around it to keep everyone else out. His Baker Catalina over hears this. Her family lives outside of the Kingdom and she will never be able to see them again if the king gets his way.

Catalina comes up with a way to build a wall that will not last, hoping the King will eventually change his mind. First she offers icing, then sprinkles, then cookie dough. In the end the King does change his mind and Catalina is able to see her family.
